It's never been known as the most friendly of derbies, but Saturday's encounter is generally a great piece of viewing for the neutral. Needing only four goals to become the highest scoring fixture in Premiership history, this is certainly something I wouldn't bet against. 

Both sides head into the game with mixed form. Arsenal are coming off the back of two cup defeats sandwiched between the 3-0 win over Aston Villa last weekend. Although Arsene Wenger fielded a weakened side to Southampton in the League Cup a few days ago, the manner in which they were taken apart by Borussia Dortmund in their opening Champions League fixture will certainly fuel some optimism for Mauricio Pochettino. 

Despite remaining unbeaten in the league, the Gunners should be a lot closer to Chelsea at the top having thrown away leads in two games that they subsequently went on to draw. However, in a slight tactical change away at Aston Villa last weekend, Wenger deployed record signing Mesut Ozil in his preferred 'number 10' role behind Danny Welbeck and the two combined brilliantly for the opening two goals of the game.

Tottenham started their season superbly with two wins in both the league and Europe. However, they did not fare so well in their fifth game of the campaign as they were demolished at home by Liverpool 3-0. That defeat has certainly rocked the boat and Spurs have looked a shaken side ever since. Last weekend's home defeat to West Brom was as poor a performance as you are ever likely to see, it's something they will drastically need to rectify if they are to take anything from a fixture that has not been kind to them in the past.

Understandably so, favourites this weekend's clash are Arsenal at a very generous 4/5. Tottenham can be backed at a best price of 4/1, with the draw on offer at 3/1. Given both side's league form and the dreadful record Spurs have away at Arsenal – winning only once in 21 attempts – I cannot see past a home victory on Saturday. At 4/5 with William Hill, I see this as a decent opportunity to (almost!) double your money, back this along with an Arsenal win and both teams to score at 13/5 with Ladbrokes. Considering 6 of the last 8 games have had both teams scoring, as well as some 5-2 goal-fests at the Emirates, you are getting some decent value on this outcome. 

Moving into the goalscoring markets and hedging our bets a little. Despite not getting off to the best of starts this season, Emanuel Adebayor is in fact the highest scoring player in the history of the North London derby. The Togo international has 8 goals to his name already and also has a penchant for scoring against his former clubs as well. At 31/10 with Ladbrokes, you are getting some excellent odds on him scoring anytime. 

Finally for a bit of a punt on my favourite market at present. Having previously touched on Mesut Ozil's return to form, after such an influential performance last weekend I would expect the German to be handed his favoured role behind Welbeck against Spurs on Saturday. When he's not shoe-horned into the team, the former Real Madrid man can produce the type of attacking display to unlock even the best of defences. Judging by how poorly Spurs dealt with Raheem Sterling in the same role a few weeks ago, back Ozil to scoop the man of the match award at 8/1 with Betfred.
