Many people are tipping Arsenal for the title this season and with sluggish displays from Man United & Chelsea yesterday, the Gunners will be hoping to take advantage and start as they mean to go on.
West Ham might be a bit weary from their travels around Europe, but it’s back to the bread and butter stuff now as their Premier League campaign starts at The Emirates. It’s an interesting campaign for Slaven Bilic and he will be tasked with helping the Hammers up the table whilst endearing himself to the fans with an improved style of football. It’s been a rocky road for Bilic so far with his side far from convincing in the Europa League. He hasn’t always played his strongest side though and has been hampered by an injury to Enner Valencia.
Arsenal beat Chelsea in the Community Shield and they should welcome back Alexis Sanchez, who was granted an extra period of rest following his success in the Copa America. There’s still no Danny Welcbeck, but Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain should be boosted by his goal last week.
The recent Premier League record suggest that teams struggle when returning from European exertions and I fully expect that to continue here today. I think Arsenal can take advantage of West Ham weariness and win by a couple of goals.
We’ve already mentioned him, but I think the Ox can striker again! He looked back to full fitness and England and Arsenal fans alike will be hoping we see him get a run in the side. The former Southampton man is clearly a talent and is a threat to any defence. I think he can repeat his tricks from last week’s community shield
