Best Bets World Cup 2014 Monday 23rd June

The final group matches are now here, so we have four games a day – two at 5pm and two at 9pm by group. There are plenty of exciting games with plenty of games to play for, here are our World Cup 2014 betting tips.

Australia v Spain 5pm

The first group to conclude is group B and we start with the group dead rubber. Who would have thought that Spain would already be out of the World Cup with a group game to go?

The Spanish simply haven’t been good enough though, they were embarrassed by Holland in the opener and failed to deal with Chile as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat last time out. Many thought they would get to at least the Semi-Finals but it looks like the end of an era.

Despite back-to-back defeats Australia have covered themselves in glory. With a young squad they pushed Holland all the way and even lead at one point and came back well against Chile. They will certainly give Spain a scrap and with nothing to play for could they get a result here?

With nothing to play for this is a tricky game to predict. Australia are without star man Tim Cahill through suspension but Spain look tired and unmotivated. You can get 2/1 with Bet365 on the draw or Australia and with nothing to play for this looks like the best shout here.

Australia v Spain Betting Tips

Draw or Australia Win – Bet Here at 2/1 with Bet365.

Chile v Holland

The other game in Group B has considerably more on the line with the winner topping the group and potentially avoiding Brazil in the last 16.

Chile have impressed in both of their matches so far, comfortably beating a dangerous Australia 3-1 and Spain 2-0. They play fast counter-attacking football and will cause the Dutch defence plenty of problems.

Superior goal difference means Holland know a draw puts them through top of the group but they seem more intent on attacking than defending so this could be very interesting.

The odds are tight on this match with both available at just under 2/1. Both sides have been so impressive so are hard to separate. I fancy goals in this one though,  both sides are so strong going forward and Chile going forward will leave gaps for Robben. Get on over 3.5 goals at 2/1 with William Hill.

Brazil v Cameroon 9pm

9pm concludes Group A and we start with our tips for Brazil’s game with Cameroon. Brazil know a win here will put them through top of the group and they should be able to do it.

Cameroon have been very disappointing and now in fighting is breaking out. Alex Song was stupidly sent off against Cameroon and after the game their own players could be seen squabbling. They only played for a draw against Mexico and were very poor against Croatia, they deserve to be out.

Brazil have far from shone so far in this competition with their opening victory marred by refereeing controversy and then being held by a defiant Mexico in their second match. A win here though sends them through top and you have to fancy them to win.

Value is hard to come by with Brazil such massive favorites but they have far from shone. Cameroon will have little to play for here and I can’t see them scoring but Brazil and Fred in particular haven’t look great going forward.

Brazil to win and under 2.5 goals is available at 9/4 with William Hill.

Mexico v Croatia Betting Tips 9pm

The most exciting Group A action may come from this one as the two sides battle out for a place in the last 16.

Mexico know a point will send them through while Croatia know a win will put them through, they don’t come much bigger than this really.

Mexico have been very impressive in beating Cameroon and getting a good point off Brazil and after a disastrous qualifying campaign looked to have turned things around when it mattered. They look dangerous going forward and are yet to concede a goal, mostly thanks to Ochoa in goal.

Croatia gained many fans from their performance against Brazil despite falling to a defeat and they were rampant in disposing of Cameroon 4-0, even though the African side were on ten men. They have plenty of talent in their side, the likes of Perisic and Olic were particularly impressive in their last game.

Croatia need to go for it here and get the win to go through while Mexico are very strong going forward. I fancy goals here with two sides who are better attacking than defending. If Croatia score first, Mexico will be forced on to the attack and vice versa so an early goal could make this very interesting. Both teams to score is a nice price at 10/11 with William Hill.
