Expert Cheltenham 2014 tips for Wednesday 12th March and race preview for two races of day 2 of the Cheltenham Festival starting from 3.20pm
Day 2 of the greatest show on earth and stories aplenty as you would imagine but I am still not sure if the punters or the bookmakers ended day one on top. Nevertheless Wednesday represents another day and here are another two bets to get stuck in with!
SIRE DE GRUGY (5/2 BetVictor) can hopefully seize his opportunity in the absence of the sorely missed Sprinter Sacre and take the Champion Chase for popular Sussex trainer Gary Moore. Others can knock his form if they want but he does come here with the best official rating and the best recent form and at the age of eight, could still be improving. As a Sussex boy myself I know, and like, Gary and will be one of the happiest men at the track if he scores his biggest win to date here, and with the form in his favour, why not have another fairytale story at Cheltenham?
Those looking for an each-way option at a bigger price could do a lot worse than ANY CURRENCY (12/1 bet365) who has been laid out for the Cross Country Chase and is fully expected to put up a very bold showing by his shrewd connections. Martin Keighley trains and described him as his best chance of the week when we spoke and with the excellent Ian Popham in the saddle, and course experience to his name (which could yet be all important), he looks like he could at least place at a double figure price.
