The Sky Bet Championship gets going on Friday night with Blackburn v Cardiff from Ewood Park and we have free football betting tips.
The excitement has been building since the World Cup finished and the big Kick-off is finally upon us. Fans up and down the country will be eagerly awaiting and anticipating that their team will have a successful season and none more so than the fans of Championship clubs who will be dreaming of their team hopefully playing Premier League football in the 2015/16 season.
This curtain raiser for the Championship campaign is a prime example of just that pitting two teams who will have just those aspirations of top-flight football.
For Blackburn, they will be looking to build on the eighth place finish last season, agonisingly missing out on the play-offs and with star striker, Jordan Rhodes, agreeing to stay at the club signing a new deal to remain at Ewood Park they have the players to push for promotion this campaign. With little activity in the transfer market thus far, Gary Bowyer has kept the nucleus of his squad together and will hope to continue the clubs form from the back end of last season which saw them go undefeated in their last 12 games.
Cardiff, on the other hand, will be looking to start positively having lost their top-flight status last season when finishing bottom of the Premier League. They will be all to aware of how difficult it is to bounce straight back up with the Championship being such a competitive league. Ole Gunner Solskjaer will be hopeful of a fresh start having joined the club halfway through last season with many off field complications surrounding their rather eccentric owner Vincent Tan.
Having lost a key player in Steven Caulker and with doubts surrounding Gary Medel remaining at the club Solskjaer will be looking to his squad to pull together, dig deep and find some form early on in the campaign if they are to justify their favourites tag to win the league, which could be classed as a bit of a jinx when you consider that only Manchester City has achieved that in the last 15 seasons back in the 2001/02 campaign.
With the season openers likely to be a no lose affair to give teams a platform to build on the logical bet in this fixture would be the Draw, which looks to me to be good value at 23/10 with Bet365. That said, with the firepower both teams possess this fixture has the potential to produce goals and the 2-2 Score Draw at 16/1 with both Coral and William Hill looks very enticing. Cardiff’s new signing Frederico Macheda will be keen to impress his new boss and show the fans what he’s made of and at 12/5 with both Bet365 and William Hill to score anytime could be well worth investing in.
