British Champion Sprint Stakes Betting Tips

The Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes (Group 2) is run over six furlongs on Champions Day at Ascot Saturday afternoon and is sure to be a fierce betting heat and we have got free racing tips for Saturday.

Here is a preview of the British Champion Sprint Stakes and a little insight in to some of the more fancied runners. It is almost certain that the ground will come up very sticky come Saturday as plenty of rain has been around the area. This means that the market it focused around some of the mud lovers and no horse in the race will be more popular than the Abbaye winner Maarek (5/2 Coral).

The Irish trained horse is bidding to win back to back renewals of this race, and after his barnstorming display in France last Sunday, he couldn’t be in better form. He has landed two group races within the last month and both have come on soft ground, so it is very likely favouritism could be justified. Very original but he tops the shortlist for me for my horse racing betting tip following the level of form he has shown the last twice on a racecourse.

Another horse that is sure to relish the underfoot conditions is the Jim Goldie trained Jack Dexter (11/2 Coral). He has had a number of runs on ground that has been soft and has failed to disappoint on all of those starts. He is a horse that still could find a slight bit of improvement, and ran a fantastic race in the Ayr Gold Cup last time out to finish third carrying a huge weight on his back. If he reproduces near that level he could be one to trouble the favourite.

A horse to also take very seriously is the Godolphin trained Soul if he runs. He has some very solid form over the 6f trip but is attached with risks as has not shown many efforts worth noting this term. At Newbury last year he surged clear to beat Saturday’s hot fancy Maarek by half a dozen lengths on some pretty awful ground, and at Royal Ascot he ran behind Moonlight Cloud and Black Caviar, and we all know what those two are capable of. It seems as though the cut in the ground suits, and is a very big price that could be of interest if he reproduces some of his best.

Slade Power (7/1 Bet365), the Eddie Lynam trained runner is also entitled to a great deal of respect as was last seen finishing a very solid second in the Sprint Cup at Haydock, and is also a fan of the softer ground.

It is sure to be a fantastic race on Saturday but the racing bet tip that clearly stands out is the favourite Maarek, he will relish the conditions, and is the one to be with.
