Channel 4 Betting Tips For Day 2 Of The St. Leger Festival

1.40 Doncaster

A wide open start to proceedings with most of these starting to look exposed.  Stocking is interesting with connections reaching for headgear as she has shown signs of attitude.  If they have the desired effect she can improve on what she has shown so far.  VESNINA (9/2 bet365) probably brings the best form to the table on her Group 3 fourth place finish last week.  A staying on effort over slightly shorter was promising with this contest likely to suit.

2.10 Doncaster

Tricky to be too confident in a fillies and mares race this time of year without seeing them in the parade ring.  J Wonder, Joyeuse and Muteela are all respected but the middle named is possibly better over six and the other pair might prefer better ground.  The vote goes to BRAGGING (3/1 Coral) who has form on soft and has come on leaps and bounds in every start this season.

2.40 Doncaster

Seal Of Approval and Venus De Milo represent the best of the older horses here but both have the habit of throwing in the odd poor effort.  Criteria would be the form pick on her Ribblesdale effort but she was disappointing at Newmarket the time after.  Instead, the selection is ARABIAN COMET (5/1 William Hill) who looks a likeable and tough sort who should appreciate the step back up to this trip.  Her Goodwood run behind Missunited was an excellent effort with a reproduction likely to be good enough.

3.15 Doncaster

The Great War hasn't lived up to expectations yet but may yet do better now stepped up slightly in trip.  Lexington Times put in a career best in the Solario Stakes last time and must be respected on that effort but FOX TROTTER (11/2 bet365) gets the nod.  Most of Brian Meehan's tend to come on plenty for their first run so for this one to win so impressively on debut before an excellent effort behind Ivawood at Goodwood bodes well for a decent future.  He can make the most of the weight he receives from his main rivals here.  

3.45 Doncaster

A mark of 90 looks fair enough for Long Cross after the front pair pulled 11 lengths clear of the third in a Newmarket maiden.  The Corsican is similarly unexposed, winning a Goodwood handicap in nice style last time.  This however, is considerably easier for OUT OF BOUNDS (20/1 Betfred) than the races he has contested of late.  A mark of 103 should still be well within his compass having won over C&D at this meeting last year.
