1.55 Ascot
If it stays dry, Free Wheeling will go close from 1lb below his handicap winning mark from Meydan in March. The vote however goes to CORNROW (7/2 Coral). Unexposed and enthusiastic in his running style, this step down in trip shouldn't stop him racking up a 4th win on the bounce.
2.05 Haydock
One of the few genuine five furlong horses in the lineup HIGH ON LIFE (11/2 Betfred) can take another step forward. Borderlescott is long in the tooth now but has shown enough this season to suggest he can be competitive off this mark.
2.20 Kempton
Godolphin set us a puzzle with three runners all coming back from an absence. Prince Bishop won this contest last year but preference is for CAT O’MOUNTAIN (3/1 William Hill) at the weights with the pair one all in recent meetings.
2.40 Haydock
Undoubtedly Captain Cat will be suited by quicker ground but looks short enough in the betting. Preference is for OCEAN TEMPEST (3/1 Betfred) who won well at Chester last weekend, giving weight away all round in a competitive handicap.
2.55 Kempton
Both Lawmans Thunder and SI SENOR (4/1 William Hill) have both racked up the C&D wins this season and despite being considerably up in the weights may not be done yet. The latter named is the sole three-year-old in the field and he can improve past these on this step-up in grade.
3.15 Haydock
Havana Cooler has been a model of consistency but continues to sneak up the weights without winning and looks short enough in the betting. CHANCERY (12/1 Ladbrokes) has looked in need of the step-up to this trip all season and gets the vote in a tricky race from a workable mark.
3.30 Ascot
Lots of unexposed potential improvers in here but the trip is a question mark for Agent Murphy while Second Step and Battersea are drawn in the car park. Instead, we will go with PENHILL (bet365 14/1) who looked stunning at York in the parade ring, travelling like a good thing before not getting home over further.
3.50 Haydock
Lots of 5f speed here with the likes of Sole Power who is 0/7 over this trip so is begrudgingly taken on. Gordon Lord Byron is second best in and is much more of a 6f type, he has a draw right out on a wing but should get a good tow from the likes of Astaire and Hot Streak. I was surprised by the price of COUGAR MOUNTAIN (12/1 Ladbrokes) who has twice looked like the type to make a top sprinter in time and this return to 6f is sure to suit.
