Value betting tips for the horse racing live on Channel 4 on Saturday.
With only one week until Champions Day at Ascot, the best of this weekend’s Flat action comes from Newmarket and York.
The Autumn Stakes for two-year-olds over 1m was won last year by Kingston Hill and I like the prospects of MUKHAYYAM (7/1 bet365) running a big race. Sir Michael Stoute saddles a rare runner for Sheikh Hamdan and he has been a very progressive colt for the yard. After finishing dead last on debut, he was upped in trip and showed an excellent battling attitude to notch-up his first win. That performance suggested that a further increase in distance would be appreciated and he duly obliged over a mile at Thirsk were he won with ease. Despite stepping up in class for this contest he looks progressive and, with Ryan Moore taking the ride, he has to be respected.
Future Empire was beaten by the thinnest margins last time out. It’s interesting that Richard Hughes takes the reigns despite Richard Hannon having a runner in the race, something which should encourage the Godolphin horses’ followers. Order Of St George travels over for the O’Brien team and cantered to victory on his third start, form which gives him every chance here.
This six furlong two-year-old contest looks to be a wide-ope renewal, and PARK GLEN (10/1 Coral) has as good a chance as any. Riding out of the Noel Quinlan yard, the selection put in a solid performance on soft ground last time at Ffos Las, an effort which suggested that a step-up in trip will be no problem. She gets a welcome filly allowance as well as Sam James’ apprentice claim, both of which could come in very handy in the closing stages.
Mattmu has been in solid form all season and sets the bench mark for this race. He’s already a Class 2 winner and finished just behind Limato at Redcar, in a similar contest last time out.
