The top two in the Premier league meet head to head in Saturday’s teatime kick off at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea and Man City both suffered humiliating FA Cup defeats last weekend to lower league opposition and will be looking to bounce back with a win to restore confidence.

Chelsea unsurprisingly opted to field a full strength side in their Capital One Cup Semi-Final against Liverpool on Tuesday, managing to scrape through in extra time. Chelsea also picked up injuries to three key players during the victory over Liverpool; Fabregas, Ivanovic and Felipe Luis are all doubts for the clash with Man City. Furthermore, the FA have charged Diego Costa for his stamping antics in the same match, and if found guilty, will almost certainly miss the visit of The Citizens.

Very small things can determine the results of matches as close as this and I think the balance, at this point in time, is in Man City’s favour. Injuries and suspension to key players would mean a depleted Chelsea side facing an almost full strength Man City side. Despite being at home, given their absentees, I expect Chelsea to play a conservative match and contain City whilst looking to be swift and clinical on the break, utilising Eden Hazard’s pace and trickery in attack.
