Cheltenham Day 1 Tips

1:30 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle Betting Tips

Willie Mullins and Rich Ricci look to land a hat-trick of wins in this race with DOUVAN (7/4 Paddy Power) who looks a worthy favourite based on his two runs this season.  This five-year-old cantered to a 15 length victory on racecourse debut a Gowran Park, beating subsequent Grade 1 winner Sizing John, and then followed that effort up with an easy win in the Grade 2 Moscow Flyer Novices' Hurdle.  Still unexposed, he looks to have the necessary class to win.

2:05 Arkle Novices’ Chase Betting Tips

Un De Sceaux is odds-on favourite for Mullins and will win if his jumping holds up.  In terms of an Arkle tip in the race, Mick Channon has run SGT RECKLESS (E/W)(NAP) (20/1 Paddy Power) just once over fences in October at Utttoxeter were he was an impressive winner.  He jumped with fluency at a difficult course and cantered home to victory.  Connections have been desperate for decent ground all season and he looks to have place claims for our second Cheltenham day 1 tip.

2:40 Ultima Business Solutions Handicap Chase Betting Tips

Charlie Longsdon has been bullish about the chances of his runner PENDRA (6/1 William Hill) for quite some time.  This seven-year-old has ran just once all season when fourth at Newbury but will improve for that effort.  He would have won at the Festival last season if he hadn't clattered the final fence and should have the ability to win this contest racing off a lenient mark of 140.

3:20 Champion Hurdle Betting Tips

Faugheen has looked a beast in all of his starts however, at a short price, I prefer to look for a little more value.  JEZKI (E/W) (9/2 bet365) looks to have a good chance at retaining his crown and, although this is a competitive affair, he should finish in at least the first three.  Jessica Harrington's charge has finished second on three occasions this season, all in contests that wouldn't have suited.  Back at Cheltenham in a truly run race this eight-year-old should give a bold show.

4:00 Mares’ Hurdle Betting Tips

Annie Power looks set to make it a fantastic day for Mullins but at a very short price she is best left unbacked.  Instead, Nicky Henderson’s mare POLLY PEACHUM (E/W) (10/1 Betfred) appeals.  Last season, she went down just a head to former Pertemps Final runner-up Southfield Theatre and has won well at Wincanton this season.  With good ground in her favour, she looks the best of the rest.
