Cheltenham Day 1 Tips for the Supreme Novices Hurdle 2017

Supreme Novices’ Hurdle betting tips and predictions for the 2017 Cheltenham Festival opening race on Tuesday 14th March with the best Cheltenham tips on the race.

The Supreme Novices’ Hurdle is the traditional Cheltenham Festival curtain raiser on day 1 and we’ve taken an early look at the runners and picked out our opening Cheltenham day 1 tip for the 2017 Festival.

Supreme Novices Hurdle Betting Tips 2017

There was a huge gamble on Melon a couple of weeks ago, but is he the winner of the Supreme? This plunge came after a 10 length win on his first start for Willie Mullins and he’s now 7/2 with Betfred to win the Supreme Novices Hurdle. Those odds look short and it is a typical short odds Mullins horse at the top of the betting odds.

Second in the betting is Moon Racer (6/1 Betfred) who is unbeaten at Cheltenham and a former Champion Bumper winner. He also won a bumper here earlier this season so knows his way around Cheltenham for sure. Again, the odds look short but this is a weak looking Supreme field so it is wide open and Moon Racer could improve enough to take the race.

Antother interesting runner is Charli Parcs of JP McManus. Is the ground is on the good side at Cheltenham then he could be the answer for our Cheltenham day 1 tips in the Supreme Novices Hurdle. He has won on soft in France but was pulled out of trials day due to soft ground. His win around Kempton on good was impressive and should come on from that first start on these shores. He was 5/4 favourite that day and won hard on the bridle. One concern would be that he is also entered in the Triumph Hurdle so if you are going to bet on Charli Parcs then use a non-runner no bet offer from one of the bookies.

Another horse to keep an eye on for Cheltenham 2017 is Airlie Beach, she is unlikely to line up in the Supreme Novices Hurdle but if she goes go that route then the 20/1 currently available at Betfair is too good to miss. She has entries in a few other races though and is unlikely to line up in this one.

Jenkins is a horse who we had eyed up for this race but his poor showing at Kempton on Boxing Day has seen his drift right out to 20/1 with bet365 in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle betting. If he can improve his jumping then that price could be too big. At the odds he could be the best each-way ante-post bet for our Cheltenham day 1 tips on the Supreme Novices Hurdle. Again, use a non-runner no bet offer if you can get your hands on one.
