Cheltenham Day 3 Tips

1:30 JLT Novices' Chase Betting Tips

This is an extremely competitive renewal, with five of the nine runners having won at Grade 1 level.  Ptit Zig sets the standard and is very tempting, while Apache Stronghold's form with Don Poli received a significant boost on Wednesday – which also brings Valseur Lido into play.  But it's worth remembering that the brilliant VAUTOUR (7/4 William Hill) defeated most of these over hurdles, and he can continue the Willie Mullins juggernaut on day three.

2:05 Pertemps Network Final Betting Tips

Edeymi has crept into the bottom of the weights for Tony Martin and looks to have been completely laid out for this, but his price is short enough considering the nature of the event.  If the rain arrives, then Closing Ceremony would be of strong interest, but the vote goes to UNIQUE DE COTTE (E/W) (16/1 Paddy Power), who absolutely bolted up at Ascot last time and has winning form at the course.

2:40 Ryanair Chase Betting Tips

There are a fair few horses in this race that are unproven or have doubts about their ability to act around Cheltenham – and this is a race where course form has proved essential.  Jonjo O'Neill is a master at peaking his horses at this meeting, and Taquin Du Seuil could easily bounce back to form, but preference is for MA FILLEULE (5/1 Coral), who thrives in the spring, goes well around here and should improve from her latest run at Ascot.

3:20 World Hurdle Betting Tips

It would be a fitting tribute to the late Dessie Hughes if Lieutenant Colonel were to win, and he has every chance in an open renewal.  However, the improving horse with all the right credentials is SAPHIR DE RHEU (NAP) (6/1 Paddy Power), who can carry the baton for the great Big Buck's.  He's open to any amount of improvement and the Cleeve Hurdle is often the key trial for this contest.

4:00 Brown Advistory & Merriebelle Stable Plate betting Tips

This is often won by a horse with previous Festival form, and none will come in to the contest with much better figures than RAJDHANI EXPRESS (E/W) (10/1 bet365) – who won the novice handicap in 2013 and was third in the Ryanair in 2014.  He gets in here off a mark of 152, but minus Sam Waley-Cohen's claim, he's essentially running off 149 and could be thrown in.
