Cheltenham Festival Day 1 Betting Tips

Supreme Novices’ Hurdle
Douvan will be looking to get the Irish team off to the perfect start for the Willie Mullins bandwagon.  He looks set to be one of the best backed horses at the Festival and if scoring could have bookmakers scurrying for cover in fear of big multiples.  L'Ami Serge hasn't done anything wrong in winning his three UK starts but he was a maiden in six French starts and I can't help but think others might just improve past him.  JOLLYALLAN (E/W) (9/1 William Hill) has halved in price in recent weeks but still looks a standout E/W contender.  He travels strongly in his races and would have benefitted from his battle with Garde La Victoire last time out. Use the William Hill refund offer on our Supreme Novices Hurdle tip for day 1 of Cheltenham and you cannot lose.

Arkle Novices’ Chase
All about Un De Sceaux here who is likely to win easily if standing up but backing a novice chaser at odds-on round Cheltenham is not for the faint hearted.  Vibrato Valtat has improved massively as a chaser but I'm still not convinced he is as much value compared to THREE KINGDOMS (E/W) (25/1 Ladbrokes) with whom he has had two very close fought battles.  If the ground were to dry right up this week then Court Minstrel could come into the reckoning with his good record when fresh as well.

Champion Hurdle
The main focus here is on the price of Faugheen, he is short enough on what he has achieved so far but there is a chance that the bookies will take him on between now and the Festival and there comes a point where he will become worthy of backing.  I'm still more than happy with JEZKI (E/W) (5/1 Betfred) for my Champion Hurdle expert betting tip as advised previously and the reigning Champion still looks a great each-way bet to nothing.
