Neptune Novices’ Hurdle Betting Tip

The opening race on Day 2 of the Cheltenham Festival is a tough choice between the Willie Mullins pair who head the market. Marginal preference is for NICHOLS CANYON (4/1 Coral) for whom a step-up in trip could bring out further improvement over hurdles. He was a stayer on the flat so should appreciate two and a half miles around a stiff track like Cheltenham’s Old Course whilst hopefully still being able to use his flat speed to good effect.

RSA Novices’ Chase Betting Tip

Final targets are not yet clear for a couple of the leading contenders for this contest which makes it a tricky prospect for those looking to get involved in the final week. If Coneygree turns up he will make turn this contest into a war of attrition which would suit Don Poli providing he isn't bound for the four miler. THE YOUNG MASTER (E/W) (7/1 Ladbrokes) will also be suited by a strong test at the trip and he could well be another one able to pick up the pieces if they go off too quick. As he is an intended runner, his price is unlikely to lengthen and in fact will contract considerably if any of those ahead of him in the market go on to other engagements.

Champion Chase Betting Tip

The highlight of the day undoubtedly will be watching the two mile chasers flying around Prestbury Park at full tilt. This year’s renewal is an open contest with question marks surrounding the principle three. Sprinter Sacre wins if anywhere near his peak with Sire De Grugy showing much more at Chepstow than at Newbury. However, CHAMPAGNE FEVER (6/1 Paddy Power) was put up as an each-way alternative in an earlier preview and I see no reason to desert him now for our next Cheltenham day 2 tip considering his fantastic course record.
