Clarence House Betting Trends and Tips

Clarence House Betting Trends and Tips – Run at Ascot racecourse the Clarence House Chase is a Grade One Chase run over a distance of 2m1f.

The 2015 contest will again be sponsored by Sodexho, and was first run back in 1989 when the popular grey Desert Orchid won the race as a 10 year-old. The event is also a very good guide to that season’s Queen Mother Champion Chase with Sprinter Sacre landing both races in 2013, Sire De Grugy in 2014 while Dodging Bullets landed the same double in 2015 – meaning the last three Clarence House winners have go onto win the Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

Trainer Paul Nicholls has won the race five times, most recently with Master Minded in 2011 and Dodging Bullets in 2015.

We've got all the key stats ahead of the 2016 renewal – this year run on Saturday 23rd January.

FREE HORSE RACING TIPS: This Saturday’s big Ascot race is the Clarence House Chase – a contest that have produced the winner of the Queen Mother Champion Chase for the past three seasons. Therefore, the betting for that Cheltenham Festival Wednesday showpiece race will be buoyant after this has been run – especially with two of the leading players – Un De Sceaux and Sire De Grugy – locking horns here on Saturday.

Sire de Grugy took this race in 2014 before following-up at Cheltenham and can be backed around 5/2 with Betfair to win on Saturday. Gary Moore’s charge will love the soft conditions and being the only previous CD winner in the line-up looks to a have a big chance. Now a 10 year-old he went down fighting behind Sprinter Sacre last time out at Kempton over Xmas and as long as that run hasn’t left it’s mark then should make a bold bid.

However, after his impressive Arkle win last season at Cheltenham the new kid on the block in the Champion 2m Chase Division is Willie Mullins’ UN DE SCEAUX. This powerful Irish yard are making a lot more raids across the Channel these days – most notably last weekend with two more winners.

This 8 year-old has won ALL his 13 completed starts and has looked the real deal. His only blips have been a couple of falls when looking all over the winner so those against him will cling onto the fact his jumping has not always been foot-perfect. This will be his first run here at Ascot so that’s another thing for the horse to overcome, but the conditions look ideal and really on these terms he only looks to have Sire De Grugy to beat.

We can expect UN DE SCEAUX to be going off at odds-on here if making the trip over, while a win for the Willie Mullins-trained horse will surely see his Queen Mother Champion Chase odds of around 7/4 with Skybet will surely vanish without trace.
