Two in form teams come head to head in a FA Cup Third Round clash at the renamed Ipro Stadium. The ‘Special One’ will take his side to Derby and a strong side will be needed to break down Steve McLaren’s Rams.

Chelsea will travel with strong ammo though in the boot after a successful and busy Christmas period, which saw the Blues climb to third in the Barclays Premier League. Wins against Swansea, Liverpool and Southampton has boosted Mourinho’s title ambitions, with these points gained in the blue corner, Chelsea can now find themselves only two points behind the Gunners.

After fulfilling the Christmas period with impressive Christmas crackers, their opponents shouldn’t be taken with light caution. Under Steve McLaren, Derby look a rejuvenated side and have their own ambitions of high success, the return to the top flight is in the mind of all Derby fans at this current time. The Rams currently sit in fourth position with only three points of the automatic places and eight points ahead of other teams challenging to be in the play off environment.  Chelsea will also have to keep an eye out for the impressive Derby as they had previous to the loss against Wigan, rammed to nine games unbeaten, winning seven of them on the bounce.

Both of these teams have been impressive in front of goal. For Chelsea, two goals were bagged against both Southampton and Liverpool, both of these teams causing Premiership drama this season. This eye for goal is also shared with Derby, whom have scored 48 goals so far this season becoming the leading Sky Bet Championship scorers.

This wont be first time though these two teams have came face to face, Derby have been in the Premier League before, but in the FA Cup, two draws and two wins a piece have came across the two teams. However, last time these two teams met in a league match back in 2008, Chelsea came out triumphant and confident after a 6-1 drubbing.

Both teams to score looks the strongest option to choose in this match up, with Derby’s overall league scoring record and by pegging goals in their last five games, they will most certainly be trying to cause much of the same damage. Chelsea have provided the same in their league campaign, strong in the attacking force has created victories but there still has been leaks at the back.  This third round tie is the one to watch, and is also one that is hard to separate a clear winner, as both teams have shown an appetite in front of goal and a consistent winning mentality in their domestic league campaigns, meaning a draw would be another bet.
