Al Kazeem will be looking to cement himself as one of the leading horses in training as he bids to take another Group 1 prize. Here we analyse the runners in the Juddmonte International and provide some free ante-post betting tips for the race.
Al Kazeem (5/4 with Coral) has been a revelation this season landing three Group 1’s. He proved too strong for Camelot in the Tattersalls Gold Cup and wore down the game Mukhadram at Royal Ascot to win cosily, before repeating the trick in the Eclipse last time out. He is fully deserving of his place at the head of the market and although he has several new rivals to deal with he is the one to beat.
TORONADO (2/1 with Betfred) won his first Group 1 last time out in the Sussex Stakes sweeping past Dawn Approach late on and will appreciate the extra 2 furlongs. He is progressive and his turn of foot could catch out Al Kazeem, who has taken a while to reach top gear at times in his races. Getting 7lb from Al Kazeem I fancy him to run his rival close; Al Kazeem has had some tough races this season and I think this will prove his toughest test to date.
Irish Derby winner Trading Leather (13/2 with Betfred) ran well when second to Novellist in the King George last time out and although perhaps more suited to 12f he looks sure to run another good race. Royal Ascot winner Hillstar (14/1 with PaddyPower) ran a close third behind Trading Leather last time out and is a progressive horse. He has looked better the further he has gone and whether he quite has the speed for this trip remains to be seen, especially in this company. Declaration Of War (12/1 with PaddyPower) is another Group 1 winner in the line up but has proved no macth for Al Kazeem and Toronado in the past and there seems to be no real reason why he should reverse that form; he looks likely to be battling it out for minor honours
