Ebor Festival: Day 3 Betting Tips

The Ebor Festival continues at York on Friday and we have got the very best free horse racing betting tips for all four live Channel 4 races on Friday 23rd August.

1.55 York – Sky Bet Handicap (Class 2) 1m4f

E/W Selection:  COME ON BLUE CHIP @ 18/1 with Bet Victor

Been running consistently well this season and recent performance show no signs of that run of form faltering. Is 10lb higher than his last winning mark but has run well off this sort of mark and including last time out when 2^nd behind the re-opposing Winterlude. 2lb better off with that rival here and his recent runs suggest this step up in trip is well worth a try. Little room for manoeuvre off his current mark but in good heart and if the step up in trip can bring about a few pounds of improvement he is not without an each-way chance. 

2.30 York – Lonsdale Cup (Group 2) 2m88y

E/W Selection: TIMES UP @ 9/2 with Betfred

Course specialist who won this race last season and followed it up by winning the Doncaster Cup. Has not been at his best in two starts this season but needed the run first time out and seemingly did not stay the Gold Cup trip. No surprise to see him bounce back to form retuning to York and a bold bid expected.

3.05 York – Strensall Stakes (Group 3) 1m208y

E/W Selection: CITY STYLE @ 9/1 with PaddyPower

He has Group 1 form in Dubai behind the likes of Cityscape and Sajjhaa and although well beaten on his latest run at Haydock he has previously ran a fair 5^th in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes behind So You Think. His best form gives him a big chance here and he should come on for his recent reappearance judged on paddock appearance and subsequent performance. Joint top rated in the field, he is less progressive than most but has achieved more than his rivals to date and can be expected to perform better than his latest run would suggest.

3.40 York – Nunthorpe Stakes (Group 1) 5f

Selection: SHEA SHEA @ 7/2 with Betfred

Little separated Shea Shea and Sole Power at Royal Ascot and there is unlikely to be much between them again here. Both will be happier back at 5f after their runs in the July Cup over 6f last time out and with Dettori booked the South African trained horse is the selection. A Group 1 winner in Dubai he deserves to bag a prize like this and his runs so far suggest he won’t be far away. Travels well and has to have a big chance if running to form.
