England v Norway Betting Tips and Predictions

England play their first game since the World Cup on Wednesday and we have free football betting tips.

With their disastrous World Cup campaign now behind them and several key players (Gerrard and Lampard) now retired, it is a new chapter in the long history of the England national side which begins with a home friendly against Norway.

There is a new look to the England squad for this game and four uncapped players have been called up n the form of Callum Chambers, Danny Rose, Fabian Delph and Jack Colback. Andros Townsend has also earned a recall as England try and move forward without the likes of Gerrard and Lampard.

One issue ahead of this match has been selling tickets, after the dismal World Cup and ticket prices at £40 only 35,000 have been sold ahead of this. It seems a friendly against Norway hasn’t captured the imagination of the English fans. After crashing out in the groups it seems England will have to do something special to get fans excited about international football again.

Norway are hardly a tough test though, ranked 53rd  in the world below the likes of Uzbekistan and Sierra Leonne  they are hardly a force of European football. In attempting to qualify for the last World Cup they finished below Slovenia and with 12 out of possible 30 points.

Big names are hard to come by in the Norway squad with Alexander Tettey of Norwich, Joshua King of Blackburn and Moller Daehli of Cardiff the names English fans will be most familiar with. They have a lot of Championship standard players and shouldn’t offer up a big test, even for this England side.

England are 4/7 to win this game with Norway priced at 6/1 while the draw is available at 3/1. England should have no problems winning this but are not worth a bet at that price.

It is hard to know how the new look England side will perform but they have won their last two friendlies at Wembley against Peru and Denmark without conceding a goal. Considering Norway have failed to score against the likes of UAE and Poland in recent months, they won’t offer much of a threat so England to win to nil at 7/5 looks a good bet for this match and that is available with Bet365.

England’s last friendly at Wembley saw them beat Peru 3-0, a side who are a similar ranking to Norway. With the likes of Rooney, Sturridge, Henderson and Sterling in the squad there is plenty on offer here to also trouble Norway. England should be able to have enough to win this and then some so get on them with a -1 handicap at 13/10 with Ladbrokes.
