Free expert betting tips and advice for two best bets for this Saturday's racing.
With the Flat season about to get under-way this weekend, excitement is building for the up-coming top-grade racing, the likes of the Guineas, The Derby, Royal Ascot etc. Before then we have the small matter of competitive cards at Doncaster and Kempton to get to grips with, and with that in mind here are my two best bets of the weekend.
At the start of each season there has to be a careful balancing act between assessing better quality horses who were put away over the winter versus those fitter, lower grade horses who have been campaigned on the all-weather. A strategy I adopt in the opening weeks is to rely on the bigger yards. Starting with the Doncaster mile at 2.05pm John Gosden, the would be “King” of Newmarket, looks to have a lively contender in FENCING (2/1 BetVictor). A winner first time out last season at Ascot, he is obviously pretty straightforward to prepare for action and word is Gosden’s horses are well forward this season. Although they always hoped this horse would be Group class, this Listed contest looks more like his standard and he can hopefully claim the victory.
At Kempton on the polytrack I fancy Richard Hannon Jr to strike in the Magnolia Stakes with TRUMPET MAJOR (11/8 BetVictor). Similar to Fencing, this horse has flattered to deceive in the past but is reported to be flying on the home gallops. He has won at Group level in the past and a repeat of that form should make this Listed race a cakewalk if at his very best. Sean Levey looks in for a decent ride in the absence of Richard Hughes who is busy in Dubai at present.
