4.00 Salisbury

The Group 3 Sovereign Stakes is the highlight of the day’s racing and, with William Haggas having had a superb season to date, his representative YUFTEN (3/1 William Hill) looks a solid proposition here.  His latest outing was an outstanding effort across the channel in France, when he was denied on the line in a Group 1 and then found himself demoted to fourth in the Steward’s room.  Prior to that effort, he finished just 5 lengths behind the classy Kingman in the St James' Palace Stakes and a repeat of either piece of form will make him very difficult to beat.  Added to that his age-for-weight allowance and the selection looks a solid colt who is still improving with every run, and acts on any ground.

Competition looks vast with Tawhid looking the best of the bunch.  Now a four-year-old, his best performances have come over today’s trip of a mile and he ran well on his latest start finishing behind Gregorian in the Criterion Stakes.

4.25 Newmarket

Moving on to a Class 2 handicap over the 7f trip for 3yos, and the progressive OUTBACK TRAVELLER (2/1 Coral) should continue his solid form here.  He has an excellent record over course and distance, posting an eye-catching strike-rate of 66% at Newmarket.  His last performance showed both his class and his desire to win as he had to dig deep in the closing stages despite giving plenty of weight away to his rivals.  Ryan Moore regains the ride and that can only be a positive jockey booking as he is, without a doubt, the best pilot riding at the moment.

The pairing of Mark Johnston and Joe Fanning have been super impressive this season and they combine here with Crowdmania.  This horse finished a close second at Wolverhampton last time and should be in the mix again warranting plenty of respect considering the team he represents.
