Fleetwood v Preston Predictions and Betting Tips

Fleetwood vs Preston North End betting tips and predictions for today's Lancashire derby in League One, the match is live on Sky Sports and kicks-off at 2.15pm.

This Fleetwood v Preston encounter should be a very tasty encounter by the seaside and our football tipsters have picked out their three best football betting tips for the match.

Fleetwood v Preston Prediction:

Two in-form meet at Highbury this afternoon with Preston sitting comfortably in second place and Fleetwood climbing up to 10th. With Joe Garner back, Jermaine Beckford, Callum Robinson, Paul Gallagher and the excellent Daniel Johnson in the Lilywhites squad, there is loads of talent and plenty of power going forward.

Fleetwood should have scored more goals with Stephen Dobbie, Jamie Proctor and David Ball to pick from up front, plus the lively Nick Haughton and the midfield maestro Antoni Sarcevic, but at the start of the season, they struggled for consistency. If they aren’t able to make a late push for the play offs, they will surely be dangerous next season and could be an early ante-post bet for the 2015-16 League One title winners market.

Bristol City may be 11 points clear after their draw yesterday and virtually confirmed a place in the Championship next season, but it is Preston who the chasing pack are hunting down. Simon Grayson’s side will want to keep hold of their position and avoid the play offs, an end of season format that doesn’t sit well with this club. Realistically, only Swindon and MK Dons can catch them, but with both playing earlier in the weekend, Preston will know what is required from them.

Preston have emerged from their poorest run of the season, they have the best home form in the division and currently have the second best away form and should have enough here so we are predicting a Preston win in our football betting tips.

Fleetwood are a great side, playing some good stuff currently, but they are still far too inconsistent and I can see their Lancashire rivals taking advantage. Our first Fleetwood v Preston prediction is for Preston to win at odds of 9/10 with Ladbrokes.

Earlier in the season, Fleetwood were bankers for under 2.5 goals in their matches, they kept clean sheets, they didn’t score many and their games generally ended 1-0 or 2-0, but they’re last few games have ended with plenty of goals. Their comeback to draw 2-2 against Bradford was impressive and they’ve also thumped Chesterfield 3-0 and impressively won 2-1 at Brammall Lane as well.

Preston have had mixed fortunes in the over/under stakes. They thumped Crewe and Oldham 5-1 and 4-0 respectively but kept a clean sheet against MK Dons and could only manage a 1-1 draw with Barnsley.

With the added spice of this being a derby, albeit not a well-established one yet. Both teams should go for it and throw caution to the wind and hopefully be game with a few goals.

Have a bet on over 2.5 goals in Fleetwood v Preston this weekend at 23/20 with Bet Victor.

I don’t often like to go for the obvious picks when it comes to first goalscorer tips, but on this occasion I can’t see past the in-form red hot striker that is Joe Garner. The former Carlisle and Forest man wasn’t able to adapt to the Championship, but it seems that he may get another chance to acclimatise next season. He is a real fox in the box, but equally is capable of a stunning strike from long distance. He has scored plenty of goals this season, despite spending some of the season injured. He put four goals past Crewe and looks likely to strike here again.

Our Fleetwood v Preston betting tip for a first goalscorer on Sunday is Joe Garner at 9/2 with Coral.
