Southampton v Aston Villa – Both Teams to Score? Yes

Villa have sacked Tim Sherwood which makes it difficult to tell what sort of proposition they will be. They may play like a team with the shackles off. Squads often play with a little more freedom when managers have departed and this is a possibility for Villa as they travel to St Marys. The main reason for the bet is that both teams have netted in all of the Saint's last 5 Premier League games, even if the goals were left late against Liverpool on Sunday. They drew 2-2 with Leicester and beat Chelsea 3-1 prior to that. Villa found the net through Jordan Ayew at the weekend against Swansea, but they just can't keep them out at the other end, despite the presence of Micah Richards and Joleon Lescott.

Man United v Middlesbrough – Middlesbrough +2 Handicap

It's often difficult to know what kind of teams the Premier League sides will be putting out. For example, on Tuesday night, Claudio Ranieri changed his entire starting 11 and both Roberto Martinez & Alex Neil had a shake up as well. Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka likes to shuffle his pack on a regular basis, but I have no reason to believe he'll put out anything but his strongest squad here. It's which side Louis Van Gaal will decide to select. With Chelsea and Arsenal departing tonight, the Dutchman might fancy his chances with this competition, alternatively, having played Sunday, he might already have one eye on this weekend's trip to Selhurst Park, which will be a challenging game. I honestly don't think there will be too much between these sides, hence why at 8/11 I will take Middlesbrough on the handicap.

Man City v Crystal Palace – Crystal Palace +2 Handicap

Same bet and same price here for the other match just across Manchester. Alan Pardew might fancy a crack at this competition and with Chelsea and Arsenal out, I don't think it is safe to be backing the bigger teams at home. Palace are a decent outfit this season and despite 2 successive losses, they're riding high in the table. These teams have already met, albeit at Selhurst Park and Man City emerged 1-0 winners, which would have landed this bet. They have a lot of squad depth at both City and Palace and it will be interesting to see which 11s begin the match, but I honestly think Palace could get something from this. They've had an extra day's rest as well after playing on Saturday where they were edged out by Leicester and will hungry to upset the Citizens.

The Capital One Cup Treble pays just short of 5/1 with Bet365

£10 on our football accumulator tips would return £47.89

Plenty of Capital One Cup action tonight and Liverpool face Bournemouth. Even though Liverpool haven't got going under Jurgen Klopp yet, they must surely be able to beat the beleagured Cherries, who shipped 5 to Spurs at the weekend. The regular price is 1/2, so £10 would return £15, but if you take this price, you could have £50 in your Betfair account by the end of the night.
