Atletico Madrid v Benfica – Atletico Madrid over 1.5 team goals

Atletico have been struggling in the league so far, despite signing some decent players over the summer and many pundits believing they'd improved and strengthened the team, it hasn't happened for them so far. A disappointing 1-0 defeat to Villareal, but that was on their travels and they're usually a force to be reckoned with at home. They put 2 past Astana on the road, which is not an easy place to travel to. They are clearly the best team in this group and they face Benfica, who haven't quite been the same since manager Jorge Jesus left for Sporting. They also lost to Sporting a couple of weeks ago and have been generally poor on the road, including a limp 1-0 defeat to Arouca in the Primeira Division. Although they haven't fully clicked into top gear, Atletico shouldn't have too much trouble scoring a couple here.

CSKA Moscow v PSV – Both Teams to Score? Yes

PSV are aiming to win their first 2 games in the Champions League Group stages for the first time ever. That would some achievement for Phillip Cocu's side who edged past a dogged and determined NEC Nijmegen side at the weekend. They surprised Man Utd in the first game, but the Red Devils managed to get on the scoresheet and the Dutch Champions have struggled to close out matches and stop opponents scoring this season. CSKA Moscow sit atop the Russian Premier League and drew 1-1 with ciry rivals Lokomotiv at the end, but missed a raft of chances to win the game. they'll be hoping to be more clinical here. PSV won both these matches when the sides last met in 2007, but it won't be as easy this time around. CSKA do have a few injury problems, but they're always good for a goal or two, they recently won 6-4 on the road against Mordovia Saransk. They're also conceding regularly including in the Russian Cup against lowly opposition.

 

Juventus v Sevilla – Juventus to win 

Both these sides are underperforming in their respective leagues. I don't think anybody would disagree with that statement, although Juve found a way of beating Man City on Matchday 1 and it's the Italians nous that I think will serve them well here. Sevilla have struggled this season, but perhaps a topsy turvy 3-2 win over Rayo Vallecano will kick start their campaign, they're starting now to score goals, but they're still struggling to keep them out. Juventus have limped along in Serie A, but they love this competition and as their match against Man City showed us, they can score goals when required and find a way to close out games. I think this is a difficult assignment for the Spanish side.

Shakhtar v PSG – PSG to score over 1.5 team goals

PSG enjoy this competition, they always impress in the Group Stage. They are 4 points ahead at the top of Ligue 1 and seem like they will breeze to yet another domestic title. To go far in the Champions League would be a great achievement and add some much needed excitement to their season. Laurent Blanc has already said he will sacrifice some of the domestic cup competitions in favour of Champions League glory and try and bounce back from their elimination at the hands of Barcelona last season. They have plenty of firepower, that's for sure and added ammunition from Angel Di Maria. Gregory Van Der Wiel is back for this as is Serge Aurier and they should be able to get a couple of goals here. They have never faced Shakhtar before, but they have 7 out of 8 wins against Ukrainian teams,
