Nottingham Forest v Derby – Derby win

Derby have been a tremendous run of form under Paul Clement and they've put their sluggish start well and truly behind them. The Rams who didn't win any of their opening 5 league games are now unbeaten since August 29th having only dropped points twice in 0-0 draws with Blackburn and Burnley. Apart from facing East Lancashire clubs with tight-knit defensive units, they've been winning well and never really looking like coming unstuck. Their 3-0 win against Rotherham was decisive and their 1-0 against QPR was the straw that broke the camels back for Tony Fernandes, who sacked Chris Ramsey on Wednesday. It's not a surprise to see Derby doing so well, they have a hugely potent strikeforce and despite a few injuries, they have a huge squad to choose from. They've also improved their defensive and clean sheets are coming thick and fast. Forest are on a wretched run of form having not won since the 15th September. They've only been beaten by a single goal in every defeat barring the Bristol City game. They just don't score enough, that's their achilles heel. They haven't got the firepower they need to propel them up the table. I can see this East Midlands derby going the way of the visitors.

Mouscron Peruwelz v Zulte Wagerem – Both Teams to Score? Yes

We like visiting the Belgian league for goals and these are two teams who often deliver. Zulte Wagerem were involved in the incredible 4-3 victory in their last away game and whilst we don't expect as topsy turvy a game here, we do think both teams will find the net. Zulte Wagerem drew 2-2 last time out at home which brings their total to 10 goals in their last 3 games. They've only failed to score 3 times this season, the latest two being against Anderlecht and Chaleroi, two teams will the meanest defenses in the league. Mouscron Peruwelz certainly can't boast that, they've only kept one clean sheet all season, that was away at Racing Genk, who were down to ten men. They failed to score last time out, but I'm not worrying too much as once again Anderlecht were the opponents and they don't tend to concede. I think both of these sides can find the net.

Clermont v Creteil – Over 2.5 goals

The French Ligue 2 isn't renowned for it's goals tally, but this one looks like a good bet to have at least 3 goals in it. These two sides are the 3rd and 4th highest scorers in the league and they've both been firing them in of late. 5 of Clermont's last 6 matches have gone overs and the match which didn't ended 1-1. The recent scores included 2-2, 2-1 and a 3-2 victory and after scoring just 3 goals in their opening 4 home games, they've gone on to score 7 in their latest 3 matches here.  Likewise 5 of the last 6 matches for Creteil have also landed overs bets. Their last 3 matches have been 1-2, 3-2 and 1-2 and this one looks to continue the sequence. They haven't kept a clean sheet since the 11th September against notoriously goal shy Sochaux. Clermont's last clean sheet came on the 18th Sept and that was only their second of the season, neither of these sides are going to be famed for their resolute defending.

Ajaccio v Bourg-Peronnas – Bourg-Peronnas (+1) Handicap

Ajaccio sit second bottom of Ligue 2 and bottom of the form table. It's been a season to forget for the former Ligue 1 club with just a single win to their name all season. They face Bourg-Peronnas, who have dropped off a little of late, but are still amongst the highest scorers in the league. In contrast, Ajaccio have managed just 5 goals all season, never scoring more than once in a game. If they continue that record, a goal for the away side and the handicap looks to be confidently covered, barring a complete disaster. We're banking on Ajaccio not finding their shooting boots here as we know Bourg-Peronnas don't boast the leagues tightest defence. They've picked up 13 points from their last 8 matches though, so i'm backing them to pick up at least a point here. They average a goal and a half a game and beat Laval and Tours on their travels recently.
