Lyon v Montpellier – Lyon win

A short one to begin with as we head to Ligue 1 for some Friday night action. Lyon are  thoroughly decent home side and beat 3rd place St Etienne convincingly here last time. Their away form is sstopping them making a real challenge to PSG. The top teams in Ligue win often at home whenever they play one another and Lyon lost at Nice and Bordeaux. They've won each of their last four home games to nil and they have only conceded two goals at home, those were both in the same game, back on the 22nd August against Rennes. Montpellier had a terrible start to the season, it couldn't have gone much worse for them, but they've picked up recently and are unbeaten in five, although three of those were at home and the away matches both ended as draws. They've not managed to win away yet and have only scored twice on the road, one of those came against hapless Toulouse.

Darmstadt v FC Koln – Both Teams to Score? No

Off to the Biundesliga for this game between two sides who sit fairly comfortably midtable. Darmstadt haven't won in their last four with their victory coming away at Augsburg. That was their only victory since the 23rd of Seotember and that was on the road. They've been struggling for goals recently though with just two goals in their last  four goals. They came in a 3-1 defeats and a 1-1 draw with Hamburg. More worrying is the lack of goals for FC Koln, who have failed to score in 4 of their last five games. The 4-0 loss to Bayern Munich isn't going to have much bearing on this, but not being able to score against Hannover, Hoffenheim and Mainz must be a huge concern for their fans. They've also had 2 0-0 draws in their last 3 matches, although these were at home, it shows they are happy to keep things tight and stop their opponents from finding the net.

Zulte Wagerem v Standard Liege – Both Teams to Score? Yes

Off to Belgium, where we like both sides to find the back of the net. The Jupiler League has been a good source of goals for us in recent weeks and expect it to continue here. Standard Liege have not kept a clean sheet this season away from home and have denied their opponents just twice all season. Wagerem usually bring the goals with them and although they failed to score last time, that was against in-form and defensively sound Club Brugge. Anderlecht were another side who denied Wagerem, but again, their defensive organisation is a credit to them. They've kept just one clean sheet since the end of August and I think they will find Standard Liege tricky in the final third. They've scored 11 goals in the last eight games which isn't a great number, but they usually do notch at least once. Both side have lost just once in the last 5, so confidence will be high going into this one.

Salernitana v Pro Vercelli – Under 2.5 goals

Off to Italy Serie B where there are three matches playing on this Friday evening. This is an 8pm kick off and we fancy few goals in this encounter. Pro Vercelli couldn't buy a clean sheet earlier in the season, but 3 shutouts in the last 4 shows they have really turned a corner. They've had just two game go over 2.5 goals all season and failed to score on 7 occasions. There have been slighly more goals in Salernitana's matches, but not at home. They won 1-0 last time out and all of their last 4 games have had fewer than 3 goals. Last week's result was their first clean sheet of the season but they have only conceded 7 goals here. Pro Vercelli have only scored two goals away from home and only conceded six, so it's bound to be tight and one goal could settle it.
