Tuesday’s Accumulator Tips:
Man City vs. Barcelona – Both Teams to Score
With an absolute galaxy of attacking talent on display, this game has got goals written all over it. City will attempt to keep things tight and avoid the away goal, but I can see their efforts being futile. Both teams scored in all 3 of City's home games in the group stages and despite Barca's defeat at the weekend, I don't this is likely to change at the knockout stage. Luis Enrique made 7 changes to his team in the defeat against Malaga, most likely in preparation for the Manchester City game. They will surely be refreshed and ready to bounce back to their A game in the Champions League. When imagining how this game will pan out, I am looking back to the epic at the Etihad when Aguero's hat trick sunk a 10 man Bayern Munich by 3 goals to 2. If this game does not produce goals, I would be highly surprised and severely disappointed!
Brentford vs. Blackpool – Brentford win
Brentford bounced back from 2 successive defeats at the weekend to record a hard fought and fully deserved win over promotion hopefuls Bournemouth. After successive defeats, this result was one or character as well as quality. Bees' manager Mark Warburton is to leave at the end of the season due to a difference in opinion with his chairman over the managerial structure at the club. The fans certainly showed their support for the manager and the players duly delivered against Bournemouth. I can see this situation spurring Brentford on to a great run and a push for promotion. Blackpool have had a terrible season so far and look odds on to finish bottom of the Championship. I predict a large win for Brentford in this one.
Middlesbrough vs. Bolton – Both Teams to Score
Middlesbrough are another of the top sides looking to return to winning ways after their defeat at home to a resolute Leeds United side on Saturday. They face a Bolton team who have conceded 13 goals in their last 4 Championship games, winning 1 and losing 3 in the process. Despite drawing a blank on the weekend, Boro will be confident of notching a few goals at home to a team with such a poor defensive record. Thankfully for Bolton, they are able to score goals; not failing to score in the Championship since December 13th, a run of 11 games. Furthermore, both teams have scored in Bolton's last 10 Championship games. All the stats are pointing to both teams to score in this clash too.
Accrington Stanley vs. Burton Albion – Burton win
Burton sit top of League 2 after 4 wins from their last 5. They come up against an inconsistent Accrington side who have managed 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats from their previous 5 in League 2. Burton tend to do well on their travels having not been defeated since November away from The Pirelli Stadium. However, earlier in the season many of their away games ended in draws, but of late, Albion have managed to turn these into victories. They have notched successive away wins over Cheltenham and Dagenham & Redbridge. Accrington have managed just 1 home win from 6 and I expect Burton to take all 3 points back from the Crown Ground.
