Football Betting Tips for Liverpool v Southampton

Anfield may well have just welcomed Jurgen Klopp into the club as their latest managerial 'saviour', but based on the two games under his leadership, not much seems to have changed. Lethargic and dull in the build up play, as well as lacking in any real intent; symptoms still present of the Brendan Rodgers era that Klopp will need to get rid of, and quick. 

The ex-Dortmund manager's first game in charge was against Spurs and, to be frank, it was a complete non-entity. Both sides would have been happy to skip the formalities of actually kicking the ball and settle for a bore-draw before the start.

New managers are supposed to awaken the crowd and bolster the enthusiasm of their players, but in Klopp's second match against Rubin Kazan, Liverpool were far worse than against Spurs. 

The Reds fell behind early on but managed to save themselves via a 37^th minute Emre Can goal. Despite Rubin being reduced to 10 men for a fair chunk of the game, the Anfield crowd had very little to shout about in the second half and were eerily quiet throughout vast swathes of the match.

Klopp admits that his players are lacking in confidence, and they desperately need to gain some winning form in order to boost their morale. One thing in their favour is their decent defensive record having conceded just 10 from their opening 9 Premiership games. Attack is where they need to improve, scoring only 9 so far. 

Southampton will be formidable opponents for a Liverpool side lacking in confidence. Should the Saints score first at Anfield, they will have scored exactly double Liverpool's tally in the same amount of games. 

Ronald Koeman's side have provided a stern test to Manchester United and even managed to beat a poor Chelsea side 3-1 at Stamford Bridge. Should Liverpool show their nerves like Chelsea did, The Saints will surely pick them off. 

Liverpool's striking options have been severely limited with injuries to Danny Ings, Christian Benteke and the ever-crocked Daniel Sturridge. Ings and Benteke are definitely out of the Southampton clash, whilst Sturridge is a major doubt. 

Southampton have a near full squad to pick from and I think that this will prove to be the deciding factor in the game. Liverpool haven't been scoring even when their strikers have been fit, and without a recognised front man to choose from, Klopp's side will struggle.

I simply cannot see Jurgen Klopp getting his first win, and I think Southampton will nick this game at Anfield.
