Football Treble Tip for Saturday 03 August

The English football league season gets underway this weekend and Saturday's Championship fixture list looks to have plenty of interest from a betting perspective. With ten 3pm kick-offs there is an opportunity for an accumulator bet, and even on what is a tricky opening day for punters, I have picked out three home wins that if you back as a treble will give you combined odds of just under 6/1 with Ladbrokes.

Millwall v Yeovil

Millwall finished disappointingly well down the Championship table after a reasonable start last season. They struggled for goals last term, but in the summer acquired prolific striker Scott McDonald from Middlesbrough. They host a Yeovil side who won promotion from League One last season and who are my banker bet to go straight back down. Back the Lions to start their season with a home victory.

Nottingham Forest v Huddersfield

Forest under Billy Davies are a very decent side who ought to have their sights set on promotion this season. With an optimistic home crowd behind them they should have more than enough quality to dispose of a Huddersfield side who have lost each of their last four matches at the City Ground, with the most recent defeat being a 6-1 drubbing. At 4/5 Forest are a confident selection.

Reading v Ipswich

The Royals dropped down from the Premier League last season and unsurprisingly start as one of the Championship's promotion favourites. Ipswich struggled badly for goals last season and don't look as if they have brought anyone in over the summer months who can remedy that. Reading should win this match comfortably.
