France v Scotland betting tips for tonight’s international friendly with three tips included in our betting preview ahead of Euro 2016.

France made hard work of getting past Cameroon the other night and they face their final warm up game ahead of Euro 2016 when they host Scotland in Metz.

France vs Scotland Betting Preview

France are starting the favourites for this summer’s tournaments. As hosts, they are likely to progress deep into the competition, but their lack of competitive football and creaking backline is a worry. They twice went ahead in Nantes and twice let Cameroon back into the game. A 90th minute Dmitri Payet free kick rescued the match for the hosts, but it was far from convincing from a side who have been quoted as low as 3/1 to win the tournament.

Firepower is key and they have plenty of it. Missed penalty aside, Antoine Griezmann has had a terrific season whilst Olivier Giroud may divide Arsenal fans, he’s always handy to have in the side. Payet is capable of the sublime and Pogba is one of the best midfielders in Europe.

Lassana Diarra is injured and has been replaced by Morgan Schneiderlin. The Manchester United midfielder has had a mixed season and isn’t likely to be parachuted straight into the starting 11.

Drama is never far away from the French squad though and there’s every chance something could boil over. They should have too much for Scotland though. Karim Benzema is left out of the squad due to an ongoing blackmailing case and the fans will be hoping Les Bleus don’t implode again.

Gordon Strachan believes his side can give the hosts a competitive match and that his side ought to have qualified for Euro 2016, but the simple fact is they don’t score enough.

They lost tamely to Italy last week, but prior to that, they had picked up positive results. They’d beaten Denmark and Czech Republic in friendlies in March and kept a clean sheet in both. Grant Hanley, when fit is part of an efficient defence at Blackburn and he was part of a back four that conceded that single goal to Italy.

France have been involved in some high scoring games, Scotland have been involved in low scoring games. They held Italy to a single goal, so I think it’s worth taking a chance on another solid defensive display from the Scots. It’s a much more appealing price.
