FREE HORSE RACING TIP: ARTHUR’S OAK (Bet here at SP with William Hill) and Bold Henry fought out the finish of a Class Two Handicap Chase here last month and cold well do so again. Bold Henry won the argument by 2 ¼ lengths that day, but with a 5lbs weight pull in favour of ARTHUR’S OAK then that swings things the way of this Venetia Williams-trained 8 year-old. Trip, ground and track are all fine and Aidan Coleman is a further plus in the saddle.

2.25 – Betfred TV Scilly Isles Novices´ Chase (Grade 1) Cl1 2m4f110y CH4

6/12 – French bred
5/12 – Irish bred
5/12 – Ran at Cheltenham last time out
4/12 – Trained by Paul Nicholls
3/12 – Winners that went onto finish in the top 5 in the RSA Chase
3/12 – Had run over fences at Sandown before
3/12 – Trained by Nicky Henderson
2/12 – Ridden by Ruby Walsh
The average winning  SP in the last 10 runnings is 7/4

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: The Nick Williams yard won this race in 2012 and we think they can do so again – this time with TEA FOR TWO (Bet here at SP with Betway). This 7 year-old was a classy hurdler but has translated that form to the bigger obstacles – having won his two starts over fences. Jockey, Lizzie Kelly gets on well with the horse and heads here after a decent win at Kempton on Boxing Day in the Kauto Star Novices Chase. The drop in trip won’t be an issue, especially in this ground, while the horse also ticks plenty of the key trends – like age, recent form & career chase wins, while, as we’ve already mentioned, the Nick Williams yard know what’s required to win the race.

3.00 – Betfred Mobile Heroes Handicap Hurdle (Grade 3) Cl1 2m7f98y CH4

10/10 – Raced in the last 8 weeks
10/10 – Won by a horse aged 9 or younger
9/10 – Won over at least 2m4f (hurdles) previously
9/10 – Carried 10-12 or less in weight
8/10 – Officially rated 135 or lower
8/10 – Winners that went to race at the Cheltenham Festival that season
8/10 – Winning distance – 2 ½ lengths or shorter
8/10 – Won only 2-3 times over hurdles previously
7/10 – Winners that came from the top 3 in the market
7/10 – Returned 13/2 or less
6/10 – Won by a horse aged 7 or younger
5/10 – Placed Favourites
5/10 – Won by an Irish-bred horse
4/10 – Raced over hurdles at Sandown previously (3 won)
4/10 – Won last time out
4/10 – Favourites
4/10 – Won by a French-bred horse
4/10 – Ran at Cheltenham last time out
3/11 – Won by the Paul Nicholls yard
2/11 – Won by the Philip Hobbs yard
2/11 – Ridden by Richard Johnson
1/11 – Winners that went onto win at that season’s Cheltenham Festival (Ryanair Chase, 2007 Taranis)

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: Between them trainers Paul Nicholls and Philip Hobbs have won this race 5 times in the last 12 years so their pair Ibis Du Rheu and SADDLERS ENCORE catch the eye. The first-named is closely matched with another of the runners, Yala Enki, after that pair finished first and second last time out here. There is a 5lb weight pull no in favour of the Nicholls horse – Ibis Du Rheu now so that 5 year-old can get the better of those two. Baywing is another that is sure to be popular having won it's last four, but this is another step up in class so will need to improve again. So the call is to stick with the Philip Hobbs-trained SADDLERS ENCORE (e/w) (Bet here at SP with Boylesports). This 7 year-old is lightly-raced and returned from a long lay-off with a nice fifth of 10 at Wincanton. That run would have brought him on again and with just 10-5 to carry he looks fairly well-treated if handling the slightly softer conditions here. Of the rest, it’s also worth giving a mention to last year’s winner – Invicta Lake. Suzy Smith’s runner won around this mark 12 months ago and wasn’t disgraced last time when fourth at Huntingdon so looks a decent each-way option over those ahead of him in the betting.

3.30 – Betfred Masters Handicap Chase Cl2 3m110y CH4

12/12 – Carried 11-5 or less in weight
11/12 – Won over at least 3m (fences) before
10/12 – Raced within the last 8 weeks
9/12 – Rated 136 or lower
9/12 – Aged 9 or younger
8/12 – Won between 1-3 times over fences (UK) before
7/12 – From outside the top 3 in the betting
7/12 – Favourites placed in the top 4
7/12 – Placed last time out
7/12 – Raced at Sandown before (4 won)
5/12 – Winners that went onto run at that season’s Cheltenham Festival (no winners)
5/12 – French-bred
5/12 – Raced at either Sandown (3) or Haydock (2) last time out
5/12 – Irish-bred
4/12 – Favourites
2/12 – Winners that went onto finish unplaced in that season’s Grand National
The average winning SP in the last 9 runnings is 9/1

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: A tough-looking race so it could pay to stick with last year’s winner LE REVE (e/w) 9Bet here at SP with Paddy Power). Lucy Wadham’s 8 year-old is 5lbs higher than last year, but won by 5 lengths that day and should find this a bit easier than the SkyBet Chase last week, when sixth of 15. The softer ground here will be more to his liking and he seems to save his best for Sandown – his recent form figures here read 2-1-1-3. Of the rest, the Venetia Williams yard won the prize the year before in 2014 so anything she runs should be respected – at this stage he’s got Summery Justice and Houblon Des Obeaux entered.

Ffos Las Horse Racing Betting Trends (C4/ATR)

2.05 – Dribuild Ltd Welsh Champion Hurdle (Limited Handicap) Cl2 2m4f CH4

Staged at Chepstow racecourse in it’s early life, but the race was terminated in 2002, but brought back by Ffos Las racecourse in 2010 – however, there was no running in 2010 due to the weather. Oscar Whisky won a poor renewal in 2011, while the 2012 race was abandoned.
Only 4 previous runnings
Silsol won the race 12 months ago
Trainer Rebecca Curtis has a 24% record with her hurdlers at the track
Trainer Jonjo O’Neill has a 24% record with her hurdlers at the track
Trainer Paul Nicholls has a 45% record at the track

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: Some decent track stats to take into account here, but none better than the 45% strike-rate the Paul Nicholls yard have here with their hurdlers. They are 5 from 11 at the course and have also won the last two runnings of this race, including 12 months ago with SILSOL (Bet here at SP with Skybet). With that in mind this horse looks the safe call to follow-up that win with the useful Jack Sherwood, who claims 5lbs, booked to ride. This German-bred horse has been chasing of late but returns to hurdles here on a fair mark and should make a bold bid to repeat last year’s 5 length under the same jockey.

3.15 –
Dribuild Construction West Wales National (Handicap Chase) Cl2 3m1f60y CH4

Just 3 previous running
Bob Ford won the race 12 months ago
Trainer Rebecca Curtis has a 39% (+£31) record with her chasers at the track
Trainer Venetia Williams has a 24% record with her chasers at the track
Trainer Anthony Honeyball has a 25% record with his chasers at the track

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: Looking at the trainer track stats then the Venetia Williams, Anthony Honeyball and Rebecca Curtis yards look the ones to focus on. BOB FORD (Bet here at SP with Ladbrokes) won the race 12 months ago for the Curtis camp and will be hoping to follow-up off a 13lb higher mark. The horse is a tad unreliable with just two completed starts from his last 7 runs, but those competed runs both resulted in wins here at Ffos Las so might just be worth chancing.

Wetherby Horse Racing Betting Trends (C4/RUK)

2.45 – totepool Towton Novices´ Chase (Grade 2) Cl1 3m1f CH4

10/11 – Aged 8 or younger
10/11 – Never raced over fences at Wetherby before
10/11 – Returned 3/1 or shorter in the betting
10/11 – From the top 3 in the betting
9/11 – Won over at least 3m (fences) before
8/11 – Aged 7 years-old
8/11 – Ran at either Cheltenham (5) or Warwick (3) last time out
8/11 – Favourites Placed
8/11 – Ran within the last 7 weeks
8/11 – Won between 1-2 times over fences before
7/11 – Won their last race
7/11 – Irish bred
6/11 – Favourites (1 joint)
4/11 – Winners that went onto run in that season’s RSA Chase (no winners, but all finished 6th or better)
2/11 – Trained by the Ian Williams yard

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: Native River and Seeyouatmidnight look big players here, but they’ve both got to give a fair bit of weight to the classy BITOFAPUZZLE (Bet here at SP with Coral) and that might prove too much. Being a mare this Harry Fry horse, who is rated just 5lbs lower than Native River, but receives 10lbs in theory has 5lbs in-hand. Yes, she needs to bounce back from unseating last time out at Thurles but looked to have that race in the bag when taking at tumble and as long as she’s none the worse for that can make amends here. Noel Fehily rides.
