French Ligue 1 Betting Tips and Predictions

We have cast an eye over some of Europe’s biggest leagues ahead of their new season and have free football betting tips for the French Ligue 1.

The French Ligue 1 gets underway Friday 8^th August. 

For Ligue 1, the best bets seem to be St Etienne and Lyon to make the Top 3.

St Etienne

Firstly, St Etienne surprised many pundits last season after reaching for 4^th position, only three points off 3^rd that was occupied by Lille. St Etienne proved to show most of their power during their home games at the Stade Geoffroy- Guichard stadium, the green shirts provide a hostile environment selling out over 80% of their games last season.  In their last five home games their power is evident, drawing two and winning three. Away from home during their last five games, both Lyon and Nantes were soundly beaten, and these would be considered as tough teams to face to grind out important results. 

Overall I can only see the green shirts of St Etienne improving. Their first game will ignite on Saturday 9^th August away to Guingamp and I fully expect them to get a result. Their last away trip was in July, in a friendly against Porto which ended 0-0.

Lyon

Lyon is another team to keep an eye on, yes the glory days maybe over for a while, but I’m sure Lyon will find more room for improvement. Last season, it didn’t start with a great picture for Lyon, but towards the end of the season, Lyon and European qualification became a working formula. Lyon began to catch teams standing over them. Marseille were overtaken alongside Bordeaux that enabled the Olympique white shirts to take 5^th spot, with only eight points behind St Etienne who occupied 4^th.  Lyon have started their European adventure with a great start,games, beating Mlada Boleslav and getting a 4-1 victory. Lyon will begin their domestic campaign against Rennes at Home on Saturday 9^th August.
