Lucky 15 betting tip for Friday’s racing action from both York and Newmarket.
Friday’s racing is headed by day 2 of the Newmarket July Festival which includes the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes. This is supported by a good card at York and here is a Lucky 15 tip for the day’s action.
HIGH CELEBRITY (4/5 William Hill) looks to be a solid starting point for my Lucky 15. It’s not often Andre Fabre sends horses over but when he does, they normally win. Connections clearly think the field is average and the maiden winner should be able to make a big step up in class. I Am Beautiful won a Group 3 last time and should have more improvement in her but she was her stables second string that day. Parsley ran a good race in the Empress here at Newmarket and should also figure.
Over to York for the Summer Stakes where, on paper at least, it looks a tough race but for me JOYEUSE (9/2 Betfred) is a fair way better than most of these. She showed her class at Haydock and was given way too much to do at Leopardstown last time out. She is the highest rated filly in the field and James Doyle has chosen to travel to York to ride her. Ladies Are Forever was poor over C&D last time; Al Thakhira is dropping back in class after having shown nothing at Group 1 level and Emerald Star is a German raider who may have claims.
The highlight of Day 2 of Newmarket’s July Festival is the Falmouth Stakes. On first glance it looks to be a close contest but personally I think INTEGRAL (13/8 SkyBet) will take all the beating. I was unsure of her class at first but she destroyed a good field at Royal Ascot and plenty of these will struggle to beat her. One who has beaten Integral before is Sky Lantern should be the main danger but has lost her way as of late. Rizeena gets the 3yo allowance and looks top class after her Coronation Stakes victory at Royal Ascot and could provide stiff competition.
Our last tip comes in a 1m2f maiden stakes. Astronereus could be tough to beat after putting up a big performance at Goodwood and the booking of Richard Hughes looks noteworthy. Fighting Back may be of interest for the same stable and William Buick decides to ride Obsidian over Sona so you’d expect him to have a chance. Both newcomers Royal Battalion and Ghany must be respected but RAZOR WIND (7/4 SkyBet) looks the ideal type for this race. He ran a good race when finishing third at Windsor in a race that has been franked. Ryan Moore is an interesting booking for Godolphin and I expect this one to go close
