Friday’s Horse Racing Tips

It’s the end of the working week for most people but there is plenty more horse racing today with action in the afternoon from Haydock, Newbury and Nottingham, while Hamilton, Newmarket and Pontefract provide the evening fixtures.

Our resident horse racing betting expert, Andy Newton, is on hand with today’s free horse racing tips this Friday (17^h July) across the cards.

Today’s Horse Racing Tips

Haydock Tips –

2.10 – Haydock – Tom Dascombe’s NEWERA (Bet at 7/1 with Boylesports) is the only previous CD winner in the field and comes here off the back of a 5 length win at the track. The horse is only up 7lbs for that and if running to that level again will be hard to beat.

2.40 – Haydock – The Roger Varian team continue to go from strength-to-strength at the moment and with a stonking 35% record with this 2 year-olds at the track his unraced PLANTATION (Bet at 4/1 with Ladbrokes) is worth risking here. The horse is entered in a Listed race later in the year and a decent sales contest at Doncaster in September so connections must like him.

Newbury Tips –

2.00 – Newbury – ZEBADIAH (Bet 15/8 with Coral) is the safest call here – only just failed to grab the winner at HQ last time and with Richard Hughes riding then this Richard Hannon-trained runner looks the one to beat.

2.30 – Newbury – The Brian Meehan yard won this race in 2013 and look to hold another big chance with FATAAWY (Bet 5/1 with William Hill). The horse was fourth on debut at Sandown in what looked a fair maiden and with Paul Hanagan riding again can do a lot better with that experience under her belt.

Nottingham Tips –

3.30 – Nottingham – Lexington Abbey got the better of Greeb last time out but on slightly worse terms there should not be a lot between them this time. However, the one I like here is ROYAL BRAVE (Bet 5/1 with Paddy Power), from the William Muir team. The horse was a close third last time out at Windsor and off the same mark looks interesting. The step up in to 6f will be fine and the yard’s horses are going great guns at the moment.

4.05 – Nottingham – RIVE GAUCHE (Bet at 4/5 with Betfred) was last seen running down the field in the Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot but that was a tough race and wasn’t actually beaten that far in the end – just 6 ½ lengths. This will be a lot easier and on her close second here two runs back will be hard to beat.

Pontefract Tips –

8.35 – Pontefract – Ed Dunlop has a fair 24% record with his runners at the track so his VERERI SENES (e/w) (Bet at 4/1 with Paddy Power) is the call here. The horse was a decent fourth last time out at Windsor and off a 2lb lower mark in what looks an easier race commands respect – the first-time cheek-pieces are interesting too.

Newmarket Tips –

6.15 –Newmarket – The boys in blue of Godolphin have won the last two runnings of this race so the unraced BINT AL REEM (Bet at 11/4 with Bet365) , with William Buick riding, is the call. The yards horses are normally ready to go first time and it’s clearly a race the team like to win.

7.20 – Newmarket – Another good chance for Roger Varian on the day – this time with JUSTINEO (Bet at Evs with William Hill), a horse that took this race back in 2013. Yes, the horse has a bit to find with Dungannon on these terms, but being a CD winner here at the track is a big plus and we’ve already mentioned once-or-twice the yards horses being in cracking form at the moment.

Hamilton Tips –

6.40 –Hamilton – The Mark Johnston team took this race in 2010 and 2014 so with two runners again – Hyaline and TRIASSIC (Bet at 2/1 with Paddy Power) then everything points to them taking it again. Both have had one run, but the pick did the better when coming third of 12 at Nottingham. With the expected improvement he’ll be hard to beat.

8.15 –Hamilton – A big pot up for grabs here so it’s no surprise the Godolphin boys are sending two up. Maftool and FESTIVE FARE (Bet at 4/1 with Coral) are their runners. Both have chances, but on these terms this could be left to Festive Fare doing the business. The horse is rated 3lbs lower than their other runner, but gets a handy 7lbs. Yes, he needs to bounce back from his last run but that was in a Group Two so will find this a lot easier.
