Fulham will be craving three points on Sunday, especially with their Christmas calendar of games producing a festival of difficult match ups including in form Everton and Manchester City. The Cottage this season has produced a difficult reading, results have been hard to craft out both home and away and the London side are pointless in five games, acquiring a five game losing run.

Before their match against Tottenham, Martin Jol was finally axed and Rene Meulensteen took the hot seat. Changes were certainly made, and Fulham even grabbed an early lead, but then Spurs managed to find a way back into the game by calving out two late goals.

With the squad they hold, Fulham really should be doing better and if this form doesn’t improve, the Cottage could find themselves bottom over the Christmas period when they travel to Norwich on Boxing Day.

However, Aston Villa will be their opponents on Sunday, a team who have saved their best performances away from home this season. Most recently, Aston Villa secured a victory at the St Mary’s stadium against the impressive side this season, Southampton. If Aston Villa continue their unbeaten streak and make it six unbeaten, they could move up to 8th if results go their way.

Aston Villa could take three points here, if Benteke comes back from the bench, the Belgium international will be edging for a goal, since he has been goalless for three months now. The Villains may also be sharing another smile, as loan striker for Fulham, Darren Bent, is unable to play since he is facing his parent club. However, Fulham could counter this with the news from Lambert’s men struggling in the defensive area with injuries.

Fulham have only won once this season in front of their home fans, but unfortunately for Fulham, Aston Villa produce a more comfortable display away from Home. A match that should provide us with a Christmas cracker, but could the Premier League be reading the joke about Fulham after ninety minutes if Rene Meulensteen cannot take the victory.
