Glorious Goodwood Day 1: Latest Odds and Best Betting Tips

Glorious Goodwood kicks off on Tuesday and Channel 4 Racing provides live coverage of the first four races on the card. Here we take a look at the races and provide some best bets for the day.

1.55 – bet365.com Stakes (Handicap) (Class 2) 1m1f192y

E/W Selection: LABARINTO @ 12/1 with Paddy Power

A wide open race and a chance is taken on top weight LABARINTO who ran as if he needed the run last time out at Royal Ascot. That was his first start for 251 days and there was plenty of promise before he weakened in the final few furlongs. He is a course and distance winner from his only start at the track and races off just 4lb higher than his last winning mark. Never been the most consistent of horses but worth giving another chance to with him likely to strip fitter for his last run.

2.30 – bet365 Molecomb Stakes (Group 3) 5f

E/W Selection: SLEEPER KING @ 12/1 with Paddy Power

Not much separates several of these on their Royal Ascot running. Supplicant was narrowly denied in the Windsor Castle, with Anticipated (3rd), Sleeper King (8th) and Justice Day not too far behind. Of those horses looking at the prices SLEEPER KING could be one to chance reserving the form. He has shown plenty of speed in his races often leading and travelling strongly, and this sharp 5f should suit him well. He ran well enough on debut on softer ground so he should be fine whatever the weather and every chance that there is more to come from him.

3.05 – bet365 Lennox Stakes (Group 2) 7f

E/W Selection: GARSWOOD @ 11/2 with Betfred

Three year olds have a good record in the race, winning 4 of the last 6 renewals and the two who line up here both hold decent chances. GARSWOOD bolted up on his first start of the season at Newmarket before finishing 7^th in the Guineas, stamina seemingly stretched over a mile. Was firmly back on track last time out when 4^th over this trip in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot. He stuck to his task well after seeing more daylight than was ideal a good way out and the race has worked out okay. A strong traveller, the Ryan Moore booking catches the eye and he won’t be inconvenienced if the forecast rain does arrive.

3.40 – bet365 Summer Stakes (Handicap) (Class 2) 1m6f

E/W Selection: SURAJ @ 22/1 with Coral

SURAJ on the face of it has struggled on his last two starts but he has run with more promise than the form figures suggest. He never got involved in the Chester Cup last time out but was done no favours by the draw there and that run can be ignored. He ran well for a long way in the Ascot Stakes before his stamina gave out but this trip should suit him well. Still relatively lightly raced for a stayer, any rain would be in his favour and he could outrun his odds
