Glorious Goodwood Day 3: Live Channel 4 Racing Best Betting Tips

Glorious Goodwood is into its third day with the feature race on Thursday being the Group 2 Goodwood Cup at 3.15. Here we take a look at that race and the rest of the live Channel 4 Racing, providing some free betting tips for the day.

2.15 – Gordon’s Handicap (Class 2) 1m1f192y

E/W Selection: CRUCK REALTA @ 25/1 with Ladbrokes

A Listed winner earlier in the season, she has struggled up in class on her last few starts but ought to be more competitive now in handicap company. She needs to bounce back after two average runs but she is a Listed winner and has some decent bits of form earlier in the season; she was second to subsequent Ribblesdale 4^th Winsili, beating the Oaks third The Lark. She as a result of running in pattern races has a fairly stiff mark to contend with but that is not to say she cannot be competitive dropping down in class. She has winning form in soft ground so won’t mind the ground whatever it is like and at such a big price, she is worth chancing.

2.45 – Audi Richmond Stakes (Group 2) 6f

E/W Selection: BEN HALL @ 10/1 with Betfred

Ran a solid if unspectacular race at Royal Ascot when 7^th in the Windsor Castle after being very well backed prior to the race. He made his debut over this course and distance and the step back up to 6f will help him; he will probably be more effective over further even. With soft underfoot conditions that may play to his strengths and he should be able to land a blow late in the race. Clearly has scope to improve and he rates a decent each-way alternative to the short priced favourite.

3.15 – Artemis Goodwood Cup (Group 2) 2m

E/W Selection: CAUCUS @ 7/1 with Bet Victor

A wide open contest and the selection is still relatively unexposed over this trip. He has form in soft ground at Goodwood earlier in the season and has been in good form of late, winning a Listed event last time out having previously finished 2^nd to Gold Cup winner Estimate. This is his toughest test to date but he remains progressive over staying trips and in good heart he deserves to take his chance at this level. Favourite Mount Athos and former Gold Cup winner Colour Vision both hold strong claims but are drawn wide which is far from ideal whereas Caucus is nicely berthed in stall 1.

3.45 – Blackrock Fillies’ Stakes (Lille Langtry Stakes) (Group 3) 1m6f

Selection: ELIK @ 11/4 with Betfred

The returning Wild Coco won this race last year and with two Group wins to her name already she looks to be the one to beat. She has won on the back of a break before and is likely to be primed for this race. Given conditions are a little soft underfoot it may well be beneficial to have had a run this time around and in ELIK she has a creditable rival. Lightly raced she has been running well in pattern company this season, winning a Listed contest before running a good third behind Riposte in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot; the first two home that day both went very close in the Irish Oaks subsequently. She looked ready for this step up in trip that day and she has run well on softer ground earlier in her career. Her Listed win came at the track and on the upgrade still she can be expected to go close.
