Horse racing best bets for the racing action on Day 4 of Glorious Goodwood on Friday.

As we move on to the penultimate day of the Glorious meeting, the top class racing continues and another host of Group contests catch the eye on Friday.

2.30 Goodwood

This looks a fairly competitive race with several horses having solid claims, however SHIFTING POWER (7/4 William Hill) looks like the best horse in the field. He lost his unbeaten run in the 2,000 Guineas, having run a very creditable race for finish fourth at 50/1. He then went on to finish second in the Irish equivalent, and that form has panned out extremely well with the third Mustajeeb taking the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot. The selection goes on any ground, arguably his best performances have come on quicker ground, and Richard Hughes should be able to get the best out of his mount on the tricky Goodwood track.

Lightning Thunder flopped in the Coronation Stakes after finishing second in 1000 Guineas and the Irish equivalent. Nonetheless, she wasn’t all that far behind and, if able to repeat her early season form she should be a threat, especially with her fillies allowance.

3.40 Goodwood

In this 5f sprint, last year’s renewal went the way of a three-year-old and I believe it will be the same outcome this year with G FORCE (8/1 Coral) looking likely to continue his improvement. David O’Meara’s colt is yet to finish outside the top three and was a close second in the Listed contest last time out after being slightly unlucky. This horse has considerable hype surrounding around him and he has the perfect opportunity to show his true class here.

Kingsgate Native is a very consistent horse even at the age of nine and he will undoubtedly be in the mix once again. He’s been placed in Group 1 races on a number of occasions and, if he shows the best of his previous form, he could well be the horse to beat. However, he looks like age my have got the better of him now and he is on the downward scale.
