Golf Betting Tips & Preview – Nordea Masters 2014- Cracking finish at Wentworth in the BMW PGA last week, disappointed that our tip Donald racked up an ugly 7 early on, which meant he could not match the resurgent McIlroy.  Not many would have tipped Rory to win with his previous poor course form and having never won anywhere in Europe before; but he was impressive in the final round and deserved to win.  Let’s now move on to the Nordea Masters, still an extremely strong field despite the Memorial tournament dragging some of the big name Europeans back to the states.

The Event

A new course for this year’s event, The PGA Sweden National ‘Lakes Course’ is a Par 72 course measuring 7,415 yards (6,781 meters) designed by Kyle Phillips, as the name suggests water plays a significant part in the course design especially over the closing few holes.  74 bunkers further protect this parkland layout, the greens are not very small, but certainly not as large as on many similar courses, suggesting fine scrambling might be a factor in keeping the bogeys off the card.

A new venue this week, so some reliance on the stats here but some players do have a fine record in this event over the years, regardless of which course it is played over.  On the stats side of things, I am looking for good ball strikers with fine scrambling ability, and some reasonable recent performances.

Weather looks set to be fine over the 4 days, with a consistent 10-12 mph wind throughout.

Returned to form last week with a T5th finish in the BMW PGA after back to back MC’s, a powerful ball striker who can lack accuracy from the tee which is a slight concern, but is an excellent scrambler who in current form can challenge at most events.  A fine performance at the Masters (only spoilt by a 3^rd round 80) was not a surprise when you consider he is ranked 2^nd in all-around ranking in Europe over the last 6 months.

Has a fantastic record in this event, 2 victories in the last 6 years over different courses, including victory last year added to a 3^rd in 2012.  His short game has been sharp over the last 6 months, ranked highly in both scrambling and putting, if the Finn can find that long game again in a country close to home where he tends to play well the 66/1 price will look big.
