Hibernian v Celtic Match Preview and Football Betting Tips

Easter Road is the venue for Saturday’s early kick off between hosts Hibs and league leaders Celtic.

The visitors have been in good form in the division, dropping only two points from a possible 24 and are top of the league, whereas Hibs’ form has fluctuated of late, and they sit in fifth place. Celtic maybe keeping one eye on their Champions League fixture with Ajax next week, but Neil Lennon has again insisted he will send out a strong team as he seeks to continue his side’s winning run domestically. Midfielder Kris Commons was one of those few Celtic players who did not play international football midweek, and The Hoops’ joint top goalscorer with six goals could be the man to break the deadlock at Easter Road on Saturday.

Of Hibs’ 14 points this season, only five have been gained at Easter Road, with their away form impressing more than their home. Their last game saw midfielder Liam Craig score the only goal in the game in a 1-0 victory away to Partick Thistle in what manager Pat Fenlon himself described as a ‘smash and grab' win. It was also only the third time Hibs’ had managed to keep a clean sheet in all competitions this season.

In my opinion, Celtic should be too strong for Hibs in this game, even with their massive Champions League fixture coming up on Tuesday although Hibs did win this corresponding fixture last season sealing a 1-0 victory. However, Neil Lennon’s men will be keen to try to extend their margin at the top of the league further this weekend.
