Horse Racing Betting Tips – 4.25pm Height Of Fashion Stakes At Goodwood

Horse racing betting tips for the 4.25 Bibendum Height of Fashion Stakes at Goodwood on Thursday.

The highlight of Goodwood’s card on Thursday is the Height Of Fashion Stakes, a Listed contest over 1m1f ½.  This race is traditionally one of the last trials before the Oaks and is usually good pointer towards Epsom with Snow Fairy the last horse to do the double back in 2010.

John Gosden won this prize in 2008 and looks to repeat that success this year with Eastern Belle (10/1 William Hill).  The horse is still a maiden but has arguably been unlucky in defeat in all her three starts to date.  The form of her last race looks strong, the winner went on to finish third in a Listed contest and the fourth placed runner went on to finish third in a good conditions race at Ascot.  On breeding she should improve for the trip but there may be one too good in here.  

Psychometry (9/2 Coral) is an interesting runner who finished fourth in the Cheshire Oaks last time out, travelling well in the race before struggling in the final stages.  She should improve for her second start of the season and will be well fancied for connections. 

Jordan Princess (3/1 Ladbrokes) and Uchenna (16/1 bet365) were both a fair way behind Tagroodha in the Pretty Polly Stakes and didn’t look any danger to the winner.  The former of the two certainly would have claims on that form but, with Sound Reflection (who split them at Newmarket) coming out and struggling in a Listed contest the form doesn’t seem to be the strongest. 

SECRET PURSUIT (6/1 Coral) finished second in the Cheshire Oaks, putting in a brave display to continue battling once she had been caught out front.  Judged purely on that form she looks to have strong claims here and should have every chance of taking this prize en route to Epsom.  

Marsh Daisy (8/1 Ladbrokes) improved well from her first start to claim a good quality maiden for Hughie Morrison, who won this race with Coquet in 2012. She too definitely has a good chance along with Feedyah (6/1 SkyBet), the Godolphin filly finished second in the UAE Oaks a fair way behind Ihtimal but she has some strong 2yo form as well.

There are a few potentially good types in this; Feedyah will more than likely need the run after her Dubai break and, with a lot of the form tying in from other trials, SECRET PURSUIT looks like my idea of the winner.  She wasn’t stopping towards the end of her latest race and, despite failing to win, she beat some well-regarded types and looks to have more improvement to come.
