Horse racing betting tips for each race shown live on Channel 4 on Saturday from Newbury, Newmarket and Thirsk.

Another weekend full of exciting racing and another week with a huge Scoop6 rollover.  The Channel 4 cameras concentrate primarily on Newbury and Newmarket but, providing the Scoop6 is still live, they will also show the final leg from Thirsk.  Here we have a tip for each race shown live.

Newbury 2:05

First up is the Aston Park Stakes over 1m 5f at Newbury and 10 have been declared for the race.  Battalion (7/2 bet365) will look to make the step up after winning three races on the bounce but this is a big step up on previous form and he'll have to be very good to beat this lot.  Forgotten Voice (13/2 William Hill) has found a new lease of life since joining Nicky Henderson and he has done extremely well as of late but may need this run.

Litigant (16/1 SkyBet) has also been impressive as of late but steps up into tougher company and this will be a whole lot different to what he is used to on the all-weather.  Sky Hunter (6/1 Coral) was disappointing last time and I can't fancy him off the back of that run so I'm going with MOUNT ATHOS (10/3 William Hill).  Third in a Group 2 race in Meydan and third in the Melbourne cup puts his form above most of these.  He's also won a Group 3 over course and distance and did it quite impressively which gives him a huge chance here.

Tip – MOUNT ATHOS (WIN) (10/3 William Hill)

Newmarket 2:20

The Triconnex Handicap is up next and it promises to be an interesting race with the aforementioned Mount Athos claiming this prize in 2012.

Thecornishcockney (25/1 Betfred) is top weight and did well before disappointing in Meydan but his turf form is pretty poor.  Expert Fighter (5/1 Coral) has some good form but he has to overcome a long break and will be contesting this trip for the first time.  Similar question marks over the trip apply to Van Percy (11/4 Coral), and the rest need to improve on their form to play a hand in the finish.

On form, for me TROPICAL BEAT (6/1 Betfred) is the clear pick.  Not only that but he has raced over this trip and further before and should handle the conditions well enough to go close.

Tip – TROPICAL BEAT (WIN) (6/1 Betfred)

Newbury 2:40

The second leg of the Scoop6 is the 2.40pm at Newbury which is a handicap over 7f.

Bronze Angel (9/1 Betfred) returns here after finishing seventh in the Spring Cup and on form would have a clear chance, however the drop to 7f is puzzling as the horse looks to need further.  Fort Knox (9/1 William Hill) has been shipped over the Irish Sea by Godolphin and brings some good black type with him.  He didn't live up to his hype in the Irish Guineas but may well be stronger as a 4yo.

Indignant (9/1 Coral) struggled at Lingfield on the polytrack but could go well now back on turf and has a C&D second place finish to her name, while Burano (9/1 Betfred) may be fancied after finishing one place behind Bronze Angel over the course last time out.

MODERN TUTOR (8/1 William Hill) has some really classy form in the book with some close defeats to top horses.  He was headed late in the last two races and the drop to 7f under the guise of new trainer Andrew Balding could see him enter the winner’s enclosure.

Tip – MODERN TUTOR (WIN) (8/1 William Hill)

Newmarket 2:55

This is a Listed race for 3yo's over 7f and represents the next leg of the Scoop6.

Parbold (3/1 Ladbrokes) is the highest rated for Richard Fahey and he wasn't beaten far in the European Free Handicap and a return to his 2yo form would see him go close.  Parbold finished behind AEOLUS (9/2 bet365) in that race and he was unlucky in- running before steaming home.  He also finished only three lengths behind 2000 Guineas winner Night Of Thunder in his prior run so he should have a big chance.

Dororthy B (6/1 Coral) was well beaten in the Nell Gywn and I can't back her on that run, Toofi (13/2 William Hill) always runs a big race and does well at the course but he'll have to improve for this step up in class.  Brazos (8/1 Ladbrokes) won a handicap at Ascot last time but that form isn't going to win him a Listed race and Miracle Of Medinah (25/1 bet365) was left behind in the European Free Handicap.  Gamesome (12/1 Betfred) could be a potential improver and it will be interesting to see how he runs but for me Aeolus has the best chance of victory.

Tip – AEOLUS (WIN) (9/2 bet365)

Newbury 3:15

Next up is the London Gold Cup over 1m 2f, a race which has been won by the likes of Al Kazeem and Green Moon prior to going on to win major races across the globe.

Extra Noble (9/1 Coral) carries top weight after a second place finish in the Royal Mile at Musselburgh and should run a big race.  Irish raider Aussie Valentine (12/1 Ladbrokes) has been sent over by connections after winning a small competitive handicap at Tipperary over 1m 1f.  The step-up in distance should suit and he looks to be an interesting contender.

WINDSHEAR (7/2 Betfred) should be strongly fancied after routing his opposition at Sandown on his latest start.  That form looks impressive as he beat a lot of previous winners and is sure to be fancied for the in-form Richard Hannon team.  Similarly, Satellite (10/3 bet365) will be popular after a crushing win at Ripon but the form of that race is difficult to quantify so I'll stick with Windshear.

Tip – WINDSHEAR (WIN) (7/2 Betfred)

Newmarket 3:30

The Coral Sprint Trophy is next and is a very competitive 3yo sprint over 6f.

Fear Or Favour (6/1 Ladbrokes) will be popular after a decent win at Bath but the form of that race doesn’t look the strongest and there are better types in the race.  Charles Molson (12/1 bet365) hasn’t done much wrong and Henry Candy's horses are the types to gradually improve so he has to be respected.  Nevertheless, he has to overturn a three and a half length loss to Expert (20/1 Coral), a horse who himself has not been in the greatest form.

STARS ABOVE ME (5/1 SkyBet) looks a progressive horse who should show the requisite improvement needed to claim this prize.  The trainer also saddles Stomp (3/1 bet365) and, although respected in his own right, on jockey bookings looks to be the second string.

Tip – STARS ABOVE ME (WIN) (5/1 SkyBet)

Newbury 3:50

The highlight of the day is the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes over 1m, a race regularly contested by the best milers in training.

Realistically the race revolves around OLYMPIC GLORY (1/1 bet365).  Already a Group 1 winner, he's beaten some of the best milers around and on form should win.

The main challenger looks to be the American import Verrazano (11/2 William Hill) who may need a few runs to acclimatise to racing over here.  Top Notch Tonto (14/1 SkyBet) is a good horse but he has already been beaten by the selection and German raider Chopin (10/1 Ladbrokes) will need to improve on previous British form.

Tip – OLYMPIC GLORY (WIN)(NAP) (1/1 bet365)

Thirsk 4:00 (Only shown if Scoop6 is still live)

The 4:00 from Thirsk is a 1m handicap.  Lord Aeryn (5/1 William Hill) has a C&D win and will be well fancied for top trainer Richard Fahey.  Despite this, he has a lot of weight to carry and may well struggle.

Al Muheer (12/1 Betfred) won this race two years ago and is sure to be primed for a repeat performance, but CAPAILL LIATH (8/1 bet365) ran a big race behind the impressive Ruwaiyan two weeks ago and, with a good claimer on board, should go very close.

Tip – CAPAILL LIATH (WIN) (8/1 bet365)
