Doncaster 3.35pm Betting Tip

The November Handicap (Doncaster 3.35pm) is the traditional finale to the flat turf season and is always a very tricky race to work out, generally run with a big field, plenty of cut in the ground and a field full of over the top participants, this year looks no exception.

Top weight Aiken (16/1 William Hill) had been massively progressive on extreme going throughout 2012 but he has been a massive disappointment this season.

Nearly Caught (16/1 Bet365) has been steadily improving all year, running well when upped to a Group 2 in France last time. As one of the 3 year olds lining up he is capable of further progress and has already shown a liking for soft ground.

Hi There (14/1 Ladbrokes) is another improver and has shown a liking for soft ground. He got on well with Samantha Bell on his latest start at Newbury in terrible conditions. Kiama Bay (28/1 Sky Bet) is massively overpriced on his run behind Chancery at York in August off this handicap mark and is proven on soft ground.

The vote however goes to Open Eagle (14/1 Bet365) who absolutely trotted up on his UK debut at Carlisle and is just 7lbs higher here. Proven in soft ground on the continent he is in a tougher race in terms of quality but David O'Meara's charge could be value in a competitive race.

Doncaster Races Betting Tips 9th November

The top pair in the weights, Tariq Too and Levitate should go well in the opener at Doncaster. The former won as he liked on bottomless ground last time and if the form can be taken at face value the 12lb rise may not stop him. Levitate has been running well in similar races and is likely to make his presence felt again.

From a higher draw Tartiflette has dropped to the lowest mark she has run off since winning this race last year. She also won at Doncaster in November 2011 and has to be entitled to respect with that in mind. A horse in sparkling recent form is Showboating, winning both his latest starts on heavy at Catterick. He can go well again although winning may be beyond him off this mark but he represents a decent each-way betting tip at 11/1 with Betfred.

The 2.25pm at Doncaster is a good quality Listed sprint with the selection being the Jim Goldie trained Jack Dexter (4/1 Betfred) for our Doncaster 2.25pm tip. 6f on soft ground is perfect for him and probably produced a career best effort when finishing second in a Group 2 at Ascot last time.

Highland Colori has been in sparkling form and beat the selection 2 and 3/4 lengths in the Ayr Gold Cup but Jack Dexter is 5lbs better off and got stopped slightly at a crucial time in that contest.

From a strong Listed race to a weak one at 3.00pm with a field full of handicappers looking to sneak black type to add future value. Of the younger generation the John Gosden trained Cushion leads the way. Her August form when only beaten half a length by Seal Of Approval reads very well at this level considering the Group 2 triumph of that rival last time at Ascot.

Of the older horses Prussian (8/1 Betfred) is the pick at the weights. Her runner up effort in a Meydan Group 2 behind a multiple Group 1 winner is excellent form but she has been below par in a couple of runs in the UK this season. Tough to pick between two horses who showed quality form on soft ground last year and lesser this with marginal preference for Prussian.

Wincanton Betting Tips 9th November

The 2.05pm at Wincanton is a much smaller field than anything at Doncaster but no less tricky with a field of potential improvers this season. Top weight Melodic Rendezvous won the Grade 1 Tolworth hurdle at Sandown in January, if resuming in a similar vein of form a mark if 150 is workable.

Far West got the closest to 5/1 Champion Hurdle candidate Our Conor in the Triumph hurdle at the Cheltenham festival. His 19 length beating of Handazan ( a winner off 126 at Chepstow to begin the season) last December would put a mark of 146 within his compass but it can be awkward for second season hurdlers against their elders.

The Channel 4 betting tip goes to the Harry Fry trained Karinga Dancer (4/1 Bet Victor) who despite being 7 years old is the least exposed with just 3 runs over hurdles. The way he travelled before dismantling a competitive handicap field at Aintree was impressive and he may be able to use that fitness edge to his advantage here.

The 2.40pm at Wincanton, the Badger Ales chase is a fiercely competitive handicap with the tip falling on the David Pipe trained Standing Ovation (11/2 Betfred) who had come on in leaps and bounds in recent weeks showing a real liking for Wincanton. He jumped like a stag here last time beating the smart Highland Lodge.

Court By Surprise and Alvarado both travelled really well at Chepstow on their seasonal debuts and Ballyallia Man is another who looked in need of his reappearance in a hurdle at this track when beaten by the very smart Southfield Theatre.

De La Bech is by far the least exposed over fences with only the two starts under his belt. He is likely to be capable of winning off his handicap mark of 126 this season though he may have to settle for a place here.
