3.15 Curragh

Despite just five runners lining up, the Meld Stakes looks to be a competitive Group 3. Festive Cheer is best in at the weights but has been seen just the once in the last year when beaten comfortably behind Gentildonna at Meydan and as such has a bit to prove before he is worth backing.

Parish Hall was second in a similar race over C&D last time so, despite having to give weight all round, is respected under ideal conditions. However, he is struggling to get his head in front this season and, having failed to give weight to a progressive three-year-old last time, that could well be the case once again.

The pick in the race is the John Oxx trained PONFEIGH (7/2 Ladbrokes). This horse acts really well on quick ground, running as well as could be expected stepping up to contest the Irish Derby on his latest appearance. A mile and a half seemed to stretch him a little on that occasion and it's expected this trip will suit, and he should resume his progression.

3.45 Curragh

My NAP comes in the Group 2 Killboy Estate Stakes in the form of MY TITANIA (13/8 William Hill). Her belated reappearance in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot saw her fizzy and fresh, and with that run under her belt she can get her head back in front in what looks to be a tailor made opportunity for her.

Odeliz has had the measure of Mango Diva on their two previous meetings this season but it's the Sir Michael Stoute trained filly who can prove the biggest danger to the selection. She was never able to challenge having been locked in a pocket at Epsom last time and the quick underfoot conditions should suit her better.

Peace Burg is the highest rated on official marks but she hadn't looked the same horse for current connections having shown so much promise in France. Her best form is on softer ground than she is likely to face here so, despite being the top rated, is discarded in favour of a John Oxx double.
