Horse racing betting tips for each race shown live on Channel 4 on Saturday.

Another Saturday of high class racing with the Group 2 Temple Stakes the feature at Haydock supported by Listed races both there and at Goodwood.  Despite the overall quality of the racing it is likely to be the Scoop 6 that takes centre stage with a potential £15 million up for grabs.

1.50 Goodwood

The coverage gets underway with a tricky Listed race, a puzzle made all the more difficult with Godolphin fielding three in the race.

Nabucco (11/4 Betfred) showed solid form last Autumn with plenty of cut in the ground so connections will have been happy with the recent rain.   This is the toughest race he has contested though and the penalty he carries for his Newmarket Listed win in November makes it tricky.

FRENCH NAVY (9/4 Coral) looks to be the first string for Godolphin and Charlie Appleby's charge is nothing if not consistent.  The step up in trip looks in his favour, he acts well on soft ground and is the one to beat at the weights.

Windhoek (10/3 SkyBet) looks the most likely to cause the selection problems judged on form.  He has performed well of late on the all-weather, most recently when finishing second in the Winter Derby having been very well supported before the off.  However, a soft surface is an unknown for him and as such is best watched.

2.05 Haydock

A wide open sprint handicap next up with any number in with a chance, a watch for any market moves is highly recommended.

Barkston Ash (9/1 Coral) has begun 2014 in rude health winning at Ripon and then at Thirsk both under this apprentice.  He finds himself 8lbs higher than last weekend's victory but the manner in which he triumphed is deserving of that rise and he should do well again.

Discussiontofollow (7/1 SkyBet) went close at Windsor on his most recent start when not favoured by the draw.  His three career wins have all come on the all-weather but he handles turf fine and is open to plenty of progress given how lightly campaigned he has been.

Muthmir (7/1 Ladbrokes) is another with far more racing ahead of him, making his seasonal reappearance here.  He looks handily weighted on what he has done so far and is likely to improve past whatever he shows here.  He looks as if he will be best suited by quick ground so any further rain must be a concern.

It's hard to know exactly what to make of RUN WITH PRIDE (8/1 bet365) and his debut win at Doncaster.  On the bare face of things a three length beating of an 85 rated rival, he would be massively well in especially for a yard that does well with sprint types.  On the other hand that rival is something of a professional loser which tempers confidence a little but it's hard to take away from the fact it was an impressive debut and he holds a July Cup entry!

Upavon (28/1 SkyBet) would be well in if he were able to finally translate his all-weather form to the turf off a mark a full stone lower.  He might be worth a chance as he is still lightly raced on grass and looks massively overpriced.

2.05 Betting Tip – RUN WITH PRIDE (E/W) (8/1 bet365)

2.20 Goodwood

A smaller field for this Listed race with a recent Ascot contest looking the best form guide.

Gatewood (13/8 Betfred) got the better of PETHER’S MOON (7/4 William Hill) a fortnight ago in the aforementioned contest.  The latter is 3lbs better off for a half length beating so should come out on top here but Richard Hannon's charge did hit a flat spot which could prove problematic on this sharper track.  That said his Newmarket form was well franked when Gospel Choir followed up his win at York last week and he should prevail.

Further back in that Ascot race was Kelinni (8/1 SkyBet) who didn't get much cover, trapped wide throughout on his return to the UK having been successful in Australia.  He is likely to strip fitter for that and is interesting to note.

2.20 Betting Tip – PETHER’S MOON (WIN) (7/4 William Hill)

2.40 Haydock

The feature of the day is the Temple Stakes, a Group 2 sprint at Haydock, where it has taken root since being moved from Sandown in 2008.

Kingsgate Native (15/2 SkyBet) is a grand old campaigner, showing that age is no barrier to him at Newmarket on his seasonal debut.  He has won this race twice in the past and should put up a bold showing in search of another victory.

Sole Power (7/2 Betfred) didn’t get a lot of luck in running at Newmarket but he showed his usual trademark burst of pace when finally in the clear to quickly put the race to bed.  He is best suited by the minimum distance on quick ground so any rain would be a negative.

One that won't mind any rain is the three year-old HOT STREAK (5/2 Coral) who looked all over the winner of that Newmarket race before giving best up the hill.  Sole Power had the fitness edge on him that day but tables could easily be turned here with Kevin Ryan's charge having much more room for improvement.  He travelled notably well at Newmarket and, in receipt of the same 6lbs again, he is taken to come out on top.

2.40 Betting Tip – HOT STREAK (WIN) (5/2 Coral)

2.55 Goodwood

7f handicaps at Goodwood can be something of a lottery with racing room often at a premium at crucial stages.  At least with a middling size field the hard luck stories might not be so prevalent.

Mick's Yer Man (8/1 Betfred) has proved himself adept on a soft surface twice already this season with 6f wins at Leiccester and Ascot.  He has been hit very hard by the handicapper for the latter but the form was franked when the runner-up was successful last time out.

SUPPLICANT (7/1 Betfred) was a Group 2 winner as a juvenile last season but kicked off this season with a rare low note when last in the Greenham.  That race has looked rock solid since in terms of form and he is worth another chance in a considerably easier contest with the assistance of Kieron Fallon in the saddle.

Beau Nash (7/1 bet365) finds it hard to get his head in front but it's not for lack of trying.  He has a massive pull at the weights with Mick's Yer Man on their Leicester running in April but one can't help but think he may find at least one too good again.

Penny Drops (9/2 William Hill) will have pleased connections at Lingfield last time when appearing to live up to her name having been turned over twice before at odds-on.  The runner up that day has broken her maiden since and, although this is a tougher race, now that she has got her head in front there may be more to come.

3.10 Haydock

A Listed sprint for fillies is next up and, as with a lot of races confined to the fairer sex, a lot appear to be trying to get black type rather than harbouring genuine winning chances.

Gracia Directa (9/1 Betfred) was a regular raider to these shores last season including over C&D.  She travels over from her German base again looking to continue her decent efforts in the UK.  A previous York winner, she has the ability to be there at the business end of this contest having run well in a pipe opener at Munich last time.

SPINATRIX (4/1 bet365) deserves to pick up a race of this nature as reward for the consistent form she shows.  She has a young man full of confidence in the plate in the form of Connor Beasley with whom she has struck up a good relationship, and any softening of the ground will be a benefit.

Perfect Blessings (8/1 Ladbrokes) has something to find on the form book to get involved but as just a twice raced individual she certainly has the most scope for improvement here.  She spread eagled a mostly moderate field at Doncaster last time and a bold showing from Penny Drops in the preceding race at Goodwood would be a solid pointer to her chances.

3.10 Betting Tip – SPINATRIX (WIN) (4/1 bet365)

3.40 Haydock

A hugely competitive handicap to close out the coverage, a race well worth revisiting throughout the season as it is sure to throw up a slew of winners.

Hors De Combat (11/1 Betfred) stayed on well to triumph over this trip at Newmarket last time.  The horse has risen in the weights but could be still open to plenty more improvement.

ZARWAAN (13/2 William Hill) is another lightly raced type having had just the three career starts.  The form of his Newbury return looks strong, staying on to take second over seven furlongs.  Three of those in behind that day have won since while the winner, who was in receipt of 10lbs, has finished fourth in the French 2000 Guineas.

What About Carlo (13/2 bet365) impressed on his seasonal debut, running riot in a Sandown handicap that had looked competitive beforehand.  The maiden race he won at Goodwood last August has worked out well with seven of the eleven behind him winning since and he seems adaptable on a range of ground though a little cut looks best.

Another to have kicked off the season with an impressive win is Bilimbi (3/1 Coral) who scored cosily in a competitive Musselburgh handicap.  A 7lb rise looks perfectly fair on that effort and William Haggas appears to have an inmate who will continue to progress through the season.

At a bigger price, Braidley (20/1 SkyBet) could go close if having one of his good days.  Given what Master Carpenter has done since, a three and a quarter length beating of him over seven furlongs last October stands up well.  He was disappointing on his final start, when sent off favourite at Ayr, but he is capable of better than that.

3.40 Betting Tip – ZARWAAN (WIN) (13/2 William Hill)
