Horse racing betting tips for a Lucky 15 bet on Thursday.
With the National Hunt season about to get into full swing, Punchestown hosts a competitive card on Thursday which includes a number of good quality Graded contests.
The first leg of today’s Lucky 15 tip comes in a competitive Listed mare’s hurdle. Little King Robin is likely to be a warm order with five wins under her belt already in 2014. On ratings, she looks a strong prospect however, preference is for the Pat Flynn trained STORM AWAY (6/4 bet365), a good performer on the flat who achieved a rating of 80 through the summer months. It took two attempts over hurdles to get off the mark, but her recent third behind geldings Rich Coast and Macnicholson looks solid form and she is taken to score here.
A chance is taken here on HARVEY LOGAN (3/1 William Hill), a horse who was highly spoken of as a youngster, ran some very creditable races in bumpers and was snapped up by current owner JP McManus after his first effort. He has run well since and, although he has yet to find his feet over hurdles, if he is able to replicate his bumper form over the smaller obstacles he could be a shoe in off a mark of 102. It’s another JP McManus owned horse who appears to be his biggest danger as Top Spin has put in some creditable efforts but may well be in the handicapper’s grasp.
A Group 3 novice chase is out next port of call with preference for ALELCHI INOIS (11/8 bet365) who seems to have taken to chasing like a duck to water. After notching up a four-timer already this year he looks to be a top of the ground horse who should have conditions to suit. Despite having to concede weight all around to his rivals, he should have enough class to score from the likes of Arzembuoy Premier, a young chaser from the Gordon Elliott yard.
Another competitive and intriguing Grade 3 contest to finish. Arguably DON COSSACK (2/1 Coral) failed to live up to expectations over fences as a novice chaser last season and, although he only managed to win on two occasions over the larger obstacles, he is likely to have learnt a lot from those experiences and should benefit from that this season. His stable companion Roi De Mee should offer the biggest opposition; however, the younger Gigginstown Stud runner is taken to improve on what he achieved to date.
2.45 – STORM AWAY (6/4 bet365)
3.15 – HARVEY LOGAN (3/1 William Hill)
3.45 – ALELCHI INOIS (NAP) (11/8 bet365)
4.15 – DON COSSACK (2/1 Coral)
