Saturday's Free Horse Racing Tips and Trends: 2nd April -

Some nice each-way returns for us yesterday and as we start a new week there’s plenty more horse racing today, with all flat racing action all the way from Nottingham, Ripon in the afternoon, while Carlisle and Windsor race tonight.

Horse racing tipping expert, Andy Newton, gives you his free horse racing tips and best bets this Monday (3rd Aug) across today’s fixtures.

Today’s Horse Racing Tips

Nottingham Tips –

3.30 – Nottingham – QUEEN’S PEARL (Bet here with Betfred at Evs) was a tidy winner last time out over this trip and a 3lb rise might not be enough to stop her going in again. The Roger Varian team have their horses in flying form at present and William Buick riding is the icing on the cake.

5.00 – Nottingham – Gay Kelleway’s OAKLEY STAR (Bet here at 10/1 with Betway) has improved a lot for the introduction of the cheekpieces after running second the last twice. The horse is 3lbs higher for her latest Newmarket run (2nd 20/1), but Luke Morris returns in the saddle so everything is in place for a big run.

Ripon Tips –

2.45 – Ripon – A tight little race here, but Patrick Morris’ BAHANGO (Bet here at 2/1 with Skybet) looks interesting. He sports the first-time visor, but more importantly has been dropped to a nice mark after running some average races of late. He’s won off 4lbs higher and also won’t mind the slight ease in the ground, plus jockey Shane Gray takes off a further 3lbs from his back – decent chance.

3.15 – Ripon – Trainer Ruth Carr does well in this race – she’s won it in 2009 and 2011. She took the prize in 2011 with her runner today SAN CASSIANO (Bet here at 8/1 with 888Sport) and although it’s a shame there are only six runners for the each-way the horse still looks worth chancing. He’s the only CD winner in the line-up and despite not getting any younger at 8 years-oldlooks well-handicapped on old form.

Carlisle Tips –

6.15 – Carlisle – A lady riders’ race here, but the one we like is previous course and distance winner – REMEMBER ROCKY (e/w) (Bet here at 8/1 with Boylesports). The Lucy Normile team have a decent 50% record with their runners here and the useful Megan Carberry has been booked to ride. Yes, the horse needs to bounce back from a poor recent run, but the step up in trip and the softer ground are big pluses for the horse.

8.15 – Carlisle – Another ladies race on a night of ‘female only’ contests. The Diane Sayer team took this in 2011 and 2013, but the one we like is last year’s winner – SILVER RIME (Bet here at 9/1 with William Hill). The horse has the talented Sam Bell riding and despite coming here off the back of a few poor runs is now a massive 11lbs lower than when winning this 12 months ago. Ideally the ground drying out would be a plus though.

Windsor Tips –

6.00 – Windsor – A tricky race with a lot of these lightly-raced or running for the first time, but we’ll take a chance on Godolphin’s PURE HAPPINESS (e/w) (Bet here at 8/1 with Bet365) being ready at the first time of asking. The yard often have their juveniles ready to go on debut and one of their main stable jockeys – James Doyle – rides.

7.00 – Windsor – Roger Varian has a cracking record here at the track so his AMERICAN ARTIST (Bet here at 6/4 with Betfair) is the call here. The horse won well at Sandown last time out and a 3lb rise doesn’t look too harsh. Yes, he meets the runner-up that day – Sonnetation – on slightly worse terms but with just five career runs should have enough improvement in him to go in again.
