Saturday’s horse racing value bets from Newmarket live on Channel 4.
As we move closer to Champions Day and the end of the flat season, there is still plenty of great racing on offer this weekend at Newmarket with the final day of the Cambridgeshire meeting.
The Royal Lodge Stakes is a Group 2 contest over 1m and MISTERIOSO (10/1 Ladbrokes) looks to have sound each-way claims for this contest. After coming third on debut, this colt followed that effort with a superb run to break his duck on just his second start, finishing well clear of the runner-up. I really liked the way this two-year-old travelled that day and Richard Hannon’s charge didn’t look like stopping, suggesting that the step-up in trip will be no problem.
As the highest rated horse in the race Nafaqa, is the clear danger. This horse saw of Toocoolforschool last time out, who has since gone on to a seven length victory in a Group 2 contest of his own.
The Cheveley Park Stakes is a Group 1 contest over six furlongs for fillies and, despite having just one run, TERROR (14/1 Ladbrokes) should finish within the places. Her only start came at Warwick where, although she ran fairly keen early on, she romped to an easy 10 length victory. Although this is a huge step-up in class, her trainer Dominick Simcock clearly regards her as a promising filly and, based on her last performance, she should be in the mix at the end.
Tiggy Wiggy is clearly the danger, after her mightily impressive victories in both the Super Sprint and the Lowther Stakes. Although she should be primed for this race, she has had a tough, long campaign and we saw how stable-mate Kool Kompany flopped at York after a similarly lengthy season.
2.35 – MISTERIOSO (E/W) (10/1 Ladbrokes)
