Value betting tips for the racing on Saturday shown live on Channel 4
We have a solid day of racing on offer on Saturday, with action coming from Newbury and Newmarket as we prepare for the Ebor meeting next week.
We begin with a Group 3 middle-distance race over an extended 1m5f which looks extremely competitive. WILLING FOE (6/1 William Hill) may be a seven-year-old, but he is a lightly raced gelding who looks interesting in this company. His first run of the season was a superb effort over course and distance, when he blew away the field including the smart and consistent Harris Tweed. He steps up in class here but should be more than capable judged on his last performance and as his trainer, Saeed Bin Suroor, has won two of the last five renewals.
Seal Of Approval has been disappointing this campaign after her shock Group 1 win last season. However, her best form comes on soft ground and conditions look ideal for this previous course victor.
Next we have an intriguing 6f sprint handicap. BOY IN THE BAR (13/2 William Hill) is handicapped on a mark of 90 and I think that could well underestimate his ability. It's been a busy campaign for this three-year-old so far, having run five times already and not having finished outside the top four. His latest effort came at Pontefract when finishing a tight second, well ahead of the rest of the field. Soft ground shouldn’t hold any fears as his best career effort came on surface with juice in the ground.
Penny Drops drops down in class after two solid efforts at Listed level and she is yet to finish outside the top three this season. She’s sure to go close again if she repeats the best of her form.
